I’d like to see Trump convicted, but…

I would really enjoy seeing the Senate convict Donald Trump, but I’d also like to see Trump remain an influence on the Republican Party and finish the job of destroying it. I would like to see Ivanka run against little Marco. That’s the best shot for the Democrats to get the Senate seat in Florida.

I’d like to see Trump run again in 2024, edging out all of the more electable candidates. I am more convinced than ever That trumps 2020 election was a fluke and is very unlikely to ever happen again. However, I’m still convinced Trump could get the Republican nomination again. The only reason I think Trump might get convicted is that Some Republicans think the same way I do, and are afraid of their party being totally obliterated.

If the election were held today, trump would have lost Texas, and many other states. his after election behavior has tarnished him.

he still has more than enough support to get the nomination in 2024, but nowhere near the support needed to get elected in the general election. This is a disaster in the making for Republicans.

It's a good point. The stinkier the compost the more fertile the soil. Up from the ashes.
We need to mount the drumbeat when the time is appropriate that these people voting for
candidate X are the same people who voted for Russian agent pumpkin. No way I'll allow them
to shed like a snake. No way they get 70 million new people, so I must infer all voters for Republicans

Should we let this go, like we did Nixon, or should we investigate it to the end, exposing all the details? Both have strong arguments. If trump runs again, it definitely needs to be fully investigated.

A lot of the Cult already believe that the 2nd impeachment was done for vengeance. So WTF -- go for it in the Senate. You know how traditionally the law-and-order party always said "We need to send a strong message"? Well, in this case they are right. Punish #TRE45ON to the fullest extent of the law as an example to any who would follow in his corrupt footsteps.

No. It's better for our nation if Trump is convicted. Future would-be tyrants need to know that actions have consequences, that you can't have your worshippers attack the Capitol and attempt to overturn an election by force. This is far, far more important than destroying the GOP.
