In 1854 she sued the City of New York and got streetcars there legally desegregated. The problem for the Left is she is everything they despise in a Black: She was from an upper middle class family, her father was a lawyer, she was a school teacher. The family was well known in New York's literary circles and her mother a published author.

Successful, affluent, and well-educated as well as part of "proper" society. She used the established system and got results. All of that is anti-thematic to the Left. It represents everything they purport to hate.

I'm making an argument for it being someone who accomplished quite bit during her life, rather than someone celebrated by the Left for doing little. Tubman for example is somewhat controversial as historians really don't know that much about her in detail. But, she is usually described as a "political activist" and "abolitionist." Those appeal directly to the Left.

Graham on the other hand single handedly got NYC street cars desegregated prior to the Civil War. She started the first kindergarten for Black children in New York state. This is someone who spent her whole life making the lives of thousands better and making real progress towards ending segregation and racism.
