I'd argue that there is no need to wait on that. There must be a one time wealth tax imposed on the richest 1%. That would pay down a significant portion of our debt. The current wage/wealth gap is unsustainable.

I agree with that. Great idea. Economic downturns don't affect the personal lives of the rich. They still live in luxury, good economy or bad. They typically look for ways to shift their investments to do well no matter what happens. It's just a number to them. They can be taxed more at any time. There is a real need for an influx of revenue right now.

Yep, and this isn't class warfare, it's pragmatism. The rich don't spend anywhere near all of their disposable income. The less well off do. Consumer spending drives the economy. Money in the hands of people who will spend it is essential to a functioning economy. We are beginning to lost that.
