Why are most Russian fighter jets bigger and heavier than American jets?

fifth-generation Su-57 multirole fighter jet’s cockpit received maximum automation.

The development was disclosed by Rostec-controlled United Aircraft Corporation in its New Horizons corporate magazine.

The publication noted that the single-seat fighter jet achieved maximum automation of the ‘routine piloting and combat use processes’.

Sukhoi Design Bureau (within the UAC) Cockpit Department head Nikita Dorofeyev told the New Horizons magazine: “Automation, information integration and intellectual support are the defining requirements for the ergonomics of a modern fighter’s cockpit.

“Theoretically, the pilot, after taking off and before the landing approach, may not fly at all, but search and attack targets. Moreover, this process is also sufficiently automated.”

In a statement, Rostec said that large and complex information about both the tactical situation and the aircraft systems’ operation cannot be accommodated all at once on the display area of the single-seat fighter’s cockpit.

In addition, too much information could burden the pilot and affect mission effectiveness.

To address these constraints, Su-57 pilots will be provided with only the required data based on the mission phase and the assigned task.

Apparently we Americans are not that bright:

Pilot workload in flying high performance aircraft has increased largely due to accelerating informational flows. Cockpits, while seemingly simpler in appearance, present multiple and layered details on the flying environment, navigational elements, mission specific data, and systems integration awareness items. Military pilots often are in contact with multiple ground, space, and aviation related resources. Warning systems often overlap or produce simultaneous alarms. Net-centric warfare allows for vast quantities of information to be readily available at the finger-tips of modern airmen. There may be a time in the near future when this information is employed in such a way that a pilot in a manned aircraft would control a “squadron” of unmanned/drone aircraft. The primary processing center for these information flows is the pilot’s brain. In this setting it would be very advantageous to know the mental state of the pilot in terms of cognitive overload. Thus if one pilot was showing signs of cognitive decline, from any source whether it is due to overload or a physiologic even such as hypoxia, control of unmanned resources could automatically be passed to another manned system, or mitigation algorithms could assist the pilot to reduce overload or stressors.

It always was.

The Empire intends to knock out their data streams and then shoot them out of the sky, which will be easy.

As with our hyper reliance on aircraft carriers our leaders did not think things through.

BUCKLE UP, this is going to hurt.

no. the F-35 "heads up" helmet display is awesome, despite design problems

This is just a further refinement

Im not even sure WTF "6th generation" means -maybe more integration?
Byt the time we got the F-35 sold in production, it was dated..such is aerotech

I might be wrong here as I have long had a interest in military aircraft, I mean like I had my own copy of Janes in the 70's, but I only lightly follow.....Americans almost never understand informational overload, I mean just look at the Max, that was one of the main problems.....also look at our roads.....40 years ago the experts were saying that we were in danger of having too many signs on the road.....dangerously....and we keep adding more.

My understanding is that the information systems on our military aircraft are poorly designed, that in combat our pilots tent to get overloaded to the point that they lose combat effectiveness.

The planes don't have weapons dumbass...it's that simple.

We Americans are addicted MORE MORE MORE assuming that the user will pick what they want, and the more choices they have the better.

THis is just straight up ignorant.

What's awesome is how Cuba detected them photo taking planes and how their missiles chased after them.

At that time, that technology was a marvel.

This will help to explain, one if the biggest feature is the ability to control a number of drones using AI. It's akin to flying a whole squadron under central control.

Two important things to me.

A jet so loud I can hear from 100 miles.
A jet so quiet even the most sensitive of hearing cannot hear.

Yep.

You don't know Animal House.

Are you a dumbass like this dumbass?

I can not tell you how fucking tired I'm getting of seeing the "quote" notification and it's...of course...a ProudDumbfuck.

Seriously, go the fuck away. You're like having retarded napalm stuck to me all the time.
