The current situation is: Global Capitalism. All (or almost all) Nations are on board with this. The WTO (World Trade Organization) is the Arbiter of disputes. So, like it or not, that is where we stand now and for the foreseeable future.
Third World Countries are benefitting the most. Their Citizens are turning in their Bicycles for Cars. Their Living Standard is RISING. First World Countries are divided between the 'Shareholding Class' and the 'Worker Drone Class'. The 'Shareholding Class' is benefitting by an ever increasing Consumer Base. The 'Worker Drone Class' of First World Countries are losing their Jobs to the Foreign Worker Drone Class.

It's all about The Money.

I agree with you on 'consuming the planet via Capitalism'. Capitalism is centered on an expanding Consumer Base, so if you belong to the Investing Class, you want MORE people. More People means More Money.

Both the Left and the Right here at JPP are for MORE PEOPLE. So if you view that as a representative sampling of the population as a whole, you've got an uphill fight on your hands trying to explain that MORE PEOPLE is NOT in their Best Interests.

It's really nice of you to work so hard saving minimum-wage fruit-picking jobs for Americans.

The problem isn't fruit-pickers or rice-pickers. The problem is our government isn't preparing Americans for the 21st Century with training for 21st Century jobs.

The Republicans just care about enriching themselves and the Democrats just want to give away free stuff. They're trying to repeat the same mistake made in Obamacare: They want to provide "free stuff", which is non sequitur, instead of reduce the cost to Americans.

Saving fruit-picking jobs for Americans isn't helping Americans. Immigration reform, especially in work visas, will control the fruit-picking issue. Make it illegal for company to hire, harbor, rent or sell living space to illegals. Give them the tools to identify who is legal to be in the US and who isn't. Start arresting bosses and sending them to prison and most illegals will self-deport due to lack of jobs.

The main problem is looking at how to reduce the cost of education so any American can walk into a public library and earn a degree or certificate as long as they put in the work.

E-verify on steroids and arresting bosses will go a long way to fixing the illegal immigration problem, but nobody in Washington DC seems interested. Why?

Computerized training is relatively cheap. Look at Khan Academy. All FAA exams are on computer. Questions are randomized from a bank of 300-1000 questions. Either a person knows the stuff or they flunk. Why isn't this applied to more career fields that rely on knowledge?

Some jobs or portions of jobs will always take some hands on training or evaluation, but a lot of modern tech jobs are all done on a computer.

If a person wants to be a fruit picker for minimum wage, then hire the American first. If not, then hire the legal worker on a visa.
