Actually, the downplaying interpretations are coming from the right.
AOC has already been sexually assaulted. That alone is a very traumatic experience for a small stature woman, for any woman. She has been very brave to become a public figure and a public servant. Her beauty, eloquence and dedication to serving the under advantaged has brought death threats from the right. She continues here work despite having people say they wish to attack and kill her, and call her all kinds of terrible things online.
For her to hear the rioters outside, and not know how close they were to getting her, and to have someone banging on her office door, bursting in, asking for her, without identifying themselves as the police must have been terrifying.
I have no doubt her feelings are valid.
This narrative from the right that she wasn't even in the capitol building is nothing but whitewashing the threat she felt.
She should not have to go through that just because she speaks her mind well and stands up for what she believes in, stands up for the powerless.
She is an amazing woman and a very effective voice of the left, which is why the right can't stand her and will take any opportunity to TRY to put her down.
And all of their BS is completely unwarranted propaganda.
She just wants to help people. And this is what she gets.
