Gay pride parade in houston 2004 draws 200,000

Does your bro-in-law dislike or hate gays or something? To me the beauty of capitalism and free markets etc. (very simplistically) is its about making money not about discriminating. If I want to make money I'm going to do business with everyone; white, black, yellow, brown, purple, blue, gay, straight, bi etc. One who limits themselves on the basis of their own discrimination is only hurting themselves.

Well.....let's put it like this. He didn't think it was funny when I stole one of his gay pride reflectors and stuck onto the back of his Dodge 3500 truck. But yea, that's the irony. That fag bashing redneck stuff went right out the window when there was a buck to be made.

Where did he say his brother had any prejudices against gays? Are we to assume because he's a Republican and supported the Iraq War that he hates gays or would never do business with them?

OH I dunno....comments like "They oughta machine gun everyone of the cocksuckers" do come to mind. Desh is right. Doing business with gays forced him to face his prejudices.

I'd be pissed if someone put a fag flag on my car (for full disclosure I'd be pissed if someone put anything on my car). Though in the great spirit of not being able to accept ourselves what we do to others I would have no problem putting one of those flags on a friends car to f*ck with them.

Is one suppose to know that from reading what you originally wrote?

The point of this thread is that this tea bag movement is a fringe element of even the republican party.

The numbers could not come close to even a gay pride parade in the republican city of Houston.

You mark my words the numbers will be inflated as time goes by.

The republicans will make it sound like a huge groundswell of people.

Its what they do.

The repete what ever they want the public to remember wether its the truth or not until it is what people remember.

I want to repete over and over again the FACTS on the ground about this thing so that the truth gets to stay in the record.

What on EARTH does a gay pride parade 5 YEARS ago have to do with tax protests this month? How can you use one to asses the other while still wearing a straight face?

It's important because in her mind "success" is only defined by the number of people attending, not if it has any actual affect on policy etc. And her goal is obviously to paint everyone who goes as 'fringe'. Thus the effort she seems to be putting in here. LOL... all i can do is shrug.

The number of people attending a politcal rally of any kind is an indication of its broader support.

How many closeted teabaggers do you think there are right now?

Desh, come on. Trying to correlate these two unrelated issues is silly.

They have nothing to do with each other, and there is a whole host of other issues that are more important to people than either of them.

Oh, gay pride people must be on the fringe, they must be weirdos because more people protested the Iraq war than went to the protest in Dallas.

Do you see how lame that is?

BTW - the Sons of Liberty were labeled as fringe by their fellow Americans over the Boston Tea Party incident. Not a widely supported stunt, but the Brits didn't get any sympathy when they passed the Intollerable Acts. Instead, they incited open revolt.
