Every individual has the freedom and right to fight for what they deem an injustice. That doesn't mean every individual will win each fight. If the majority are of like mind, they will rise together. If it is a minority opinion, obviously they will not likely win the fight.
The point being.... we are NOT beholden to the OPINIONS of politicians or the lawyers they appoint. If Bush had been able to appoint and get confirmed the entire SCOTUS.... would you have stood by and said, well gee... they are the SCOTUS.... whatever they rule the Constitution to mean is what it means.

My uncle has had similar experiences. Viet Nam would have been successful if the government fully supported their troops. Iraq will be successful in spite of this.

How many people were hacked to death when the US pulled out? Three million? Capitulating to the enemy is always successful to the enemy.

Yes we never should have been there in the first place.
But at it's time pulling out was the only viable option.

We can argue about the start of it until we are blue but that doesn't affect or shameful pull-out. We got folks over there to trust us then turned our backs on them. We never cut off the enemies supply which caused our guys unnecessary casualties. Then we took the easy way out, resulting in three million dead allies.
In contrast Bush cut off the Afghanistan Taliban's supply by putting the hammer on Saddam in Iraq. Now the Democrats want us to turn our backs on our Iraqi allies, which would undoubtedly cause more millions of innocent deaths.
Why do you want our allies to die?
