Bowing Down To and Shaking Hands With . . .

I would have shook Chavez' hand too. I'll bet if the hand were offered, so would Bush. Although Bush wasn't likely to go and sit for hours as leader after leader lambasted America in some sort of weird, more serious, version of a celebrity roast and therefore wouldn't like have the chance to shake that hand.

So George Bush wouldn't attend the Conference of the Americas? Really? That's odd. I could've sworn that he delivered the keynote speech at last year's event.

lame...

that you can't accept the factual difference between an actual bow and bending over is sad...

i'm surprised you haven't posted pictures of obama bending over and tying his shoes and calling that bowing, next thing you'll post is obama bending over to pick something up and you'll say thats a bow as well....

face it, your guy is the only US president to bow to a muslim king, head nod to the queen, full bow to a muslim king...

My brother .. Americans are an incredibly arrogant, supremist, and far too often, non-thinking people.

What is the harm in goodwill and mutual respect?

The right-wing "outrage" on this issue should be mocked.

Yep, it was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Oh, and Dung. When I said "he said" I was talking about the Administration, as people often do with Presidents. When people complained about the bow, he (the Administration again) sent out a dupe to tell everybody he was just bending over because the dude was so short. He should have just said, "Oh please! Give it a rest!" and moved on. Let them complain, but don't pee on my window and tell me it's really raining.

I understand. I was simply offering Obama's personal comments on the matter when he was asked directly. And my recollection is that no dupe was sent out but that the Politico got some response from some anonymous staffer and a week later Gibbs was asked about it. The Administration didn't send any dupe out to tell anybody anything about it.

Your memory is always fucked and never in a Democrat's favor.

Oh, I'm sure he attended. I just wonder how long he sat as their leaders trashed the US. We walk out of the UN when Iran starts in on Israel. But heck, I may be giving him less credit than he deserves. I'm relatively sure that if Chavez offered a hand to shake, Bush would have shook the hand rather than leave the dude hangin'.

That is sending out a dupe. Your excuse machine is on again, you are a party apologist that can't turn it off.

The "White House Said"....

It was in papers everywhere, not just this one silly editorial. It isn't like I made it up.

Actually, we didn't attend that UN racism conference so we didn't have to walk out.

And there really aren't all that many countries in the western hemisphere that trash the United States. I guess there's the Castros in Cuba, Chavez in Venezuela and Ortega in Nicaragua but to refuse to attend a conference including all of the Americas because two speakers might have nasty things to say about the United States is fucking stupid.

It was reported by Politico on Ben Smith's blog, linked up at Drudge and reported everywhere thereafter. Everyone took the quote from an anonymous Obama aide (not even an official or senior official but "aide") that Smith talked to and reproduced it everywhere. That's not the White House sending anyone out but a reporter asking one of his sources in the WHite House.

Here is the original reporting that your link above pretty much plagarized:

Again, IMO that is sending out a dupe.

It's like a trial balloon, but only for the stupid.

So responding to questions is "sending out a dupe?" Makes perfect sense.
It is sending out a dupe IMO, when it is using "unnamed" WH Staff to give such an obviously stupid lie about something that is so small it shouldn't be lied about.

The first President to bow to another Nation's leader tried to pass of his bow through a dupe as bending over to shake the hand of a short man.

And all you have is pretending you can't comprehend what I mean. Seriously, this is BS apologist inanity. For no reason. When you go to this level to be an apologist, then there is nothing you need to stoop to, you've already gone into the "nonsense" category.

The first president to bow . . . What a crock of shit. And all while pretending not to really care about it.

Hilarious.

And you assume that the White House sent this person out on background but there is no indication that this is actually the case. You pretend to know as fact a lot of stuff that you haven't the foggiest idea about and, as with your faulty memory, you always pretend to know things that paint the Democrat in a negative light.

I comprehend what you mean full well. It's just that what you mean and what is actually true or supportable based on what we know are two very different things.

Tell me, which other President has bowed to the head of State of another nation?

And yes, I don't really care too much about it. Other than, IMO, it shows somebody who is learning on the job.

And if it were the Bush Administration you and I would both be saying this about him, instead you are an Obamabot apologist. It is amazing how you used to complain about people who would defend the Bush Admin for the littlest things... yet it is somebody else who needs introspection...

It is weak that Obama chose this as the first reason to try a dupe balloon, weaker still that you fell for it.

1) I have no idea. The burden of proof isn't on me. For someone that doesn't care about whether he bowed or not you seem to have done quite a bit of research to determine that Obama was the first president in 200+ years to bow to the head of State (not sure why you capitalized that) of another nation.

2) Negative. As I said previously, I didn't give a shit when Bush kissed and held hands. I care about policy, not this silly little horseshit that you are your obsess with.

It took no research to ask you a question and read something in the article that I linked to after I thought to find out how many different sources I could find the "White House Says" remark in...

Thank you for proving my point. You can't get over the need to be an apologist, even in something you believe to be important. Me, I can't stop laughing at the utter hypocrisy apparent in somebody who complained about Bush apologists for 8 years slavishly doing the same for the following administration.

And when Bush sent out Dupe balloons we heard consistently from the left how he "couldn't tell the truth even about the little things", when Obama does. Well, it's just that we "have no proof" he actually said it...

 You're hopeless.

I guess I'll just wait for your research on presidential bowing practices.

And you really seem to think that the White House set out an unnamed aide to all of these reporters with that dumbass quote? Please. You're helpless.

What? You said that he wasn't the first, I thought your massive research efforts would have found another and had it on hand.

In this case I bowed to the research of another, in an article that you may have read because I linked to it.

Nice article. Associated Content. Quite the reputable source. Any site that allows anyone to publish anything about any topic without even the sourcing requirements of Wikipeida just has to be correct.

I clicked the fist one. You're the one who insists he is wrong about something without evidence to back it up.

I can see you desperately trying to find one, but only finding that same sentence in numerous sources... then coming up with this weak ad hom because you had nothing else.

I can only shake my head and chuckle at somebody who insists how unimportant it should be to others who can't let the subject go and I am entertained by the sheer audacity of the hypocrisy. One who used to point fingers at "hacks" is shown to be what we alway suspected.

I'm not insisting anyone is wrong other than you. I said 15 posts ago that Ben Smith of the Politico talked to one person at the White House whom he described as a White House aide and that every article since has simply re-printed the quote Ben Smith got. You seem to think this aide was sent out this aide to talk to the press when there is no indication that it is actually so.

And I guess I'll continue to wait for your research on presidential bowing practices. I mean, for someone so dedicated to the truth surely you wouldn't be making shit up.
