Kung Flu update...

I enjoyed living in Texas, and there are tons of good people there.

The problem is Texas Republicans and JPP conservatives utterly and willfully fail to recognize how racially insensitive rhetoric like "Kung Flu" is.
It;s inaccurate -Im 100% fine with "China virus" - because "CCP virus" is impossible to use in speech

Calling it simply "COVID" saves us all some syllables and annoyance, but that is apparently too difficult for those who must turn a global pandemic into a xenophobia match.

90% of the time I hear COVID..
when Im trying to make a point about how China lied the world into a pandemic I use Wu-Flu

Ebola virus was first discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo.
not even remotely close to being a good apples to apples analogy.

Ebola River is an inanimate geographic feature.

China and Kung Fu are nationalities and ethnic/cultural references.

I'm sure that there are great things about living in Texas.
I'm just a fish out of water in red states.

It's just a matter of general attitude.
In a big blue American city on either coast, I can always find the things that make me comfortable.
I can't do that in Tulsa, Wichita, or Omaha. It's just too different. The people are really different. It's like a different country.

'Kung Flu': Texas Ramen Eatery Covered in Racist Graffiti After Owner Opposed Lifting Mask Mandate

A Texas ramen restaurant was vandalized with racist graffiti on Sunday after its owner spoke out against Republican Governor Greg Abbott's recent decision to lift the state's coronavirus mask mandate.

Photos shared to Facebook showed racist graffiti in red ink on the windows of the restaurant, including the words, "No Mask," "Kung Flu," "Commie," "Hope U Die" and "Ramen Noodle Flu."

Probably done by Democrats, but no one defends this.

Pretending that anyone would?

Deplorable.

China is a "geopgraphical feature" (reference)
I'm already said Kung flu is a disservice, and inaccurate

Wu-Flu is the best forr a variety of reasons including the Wuhan Institute for Virology

China is a nation, an artificial geographic political construct, referencing first and foremost to a people, a nation, a culture. You cannot see China's boders in satellite photos, they are completely artificial and only serve to denote a cultural and political entity of people.

You can see the Ebola River in satellite photos.

IOW whenever you want to blame the originating country merely for being the first known host of that pandemic, you reach for the xenophobia toolbox. Thanks for playing.

When Trump reached for the "Kung Flu" rhetoric and his fan boys cheered him on, they made it perfectly clear they were playing the xenophobia card

I blame China for fucking around with COVID in the lab, where it likely escaped
I use Wu-Flu for the origion, and to narrow it down to the Viral Institute.

China did a LOT MORE then "host" the pandemic.

They brought it out of bat caves, and they screwed with it -then they lied about it

thank for the obvious geographical lesson
'China flu" goes to the way the CCP mishandled and lied about the pandemic.
'CCP flu" doesnt make sense to 99% of the people -and language must be understandable to be useful

Rural middle Americans don't travel abroad as much as coastal urban people.
That's just a fact.
A larger percentage of coastal urban people have passports.
It's easier to go from Boston to Paris than from Bald Knob, Oklahoma to Paris.
Boston has an airport; Bald Knob just has Floyd to take you on bi-plane rides when he's not dusting crops.

You can find an ethnic restaurant of any kind here in Boston.
Chester's Roadhouse makes a great burger in Bald Knob. I like burgers, but not every day. Plus I don't need the country "music" while I'm eating it.

You can hear almost every language spoken on the planet in urban America.
You need a translator to understand Bald Knob's version of English, y'all.

People don't trust what they don't know and understand.
So middle Americans, thank you for growing corn and taking care of the livestock...
but please, shut the fuck up about things you don't understand. The xenophobia is embarrassing.

Find Banjofuck, wherever the fuck he's been; maybe he'll play a tune for you.

Looks like QAnon has been working hard to go mainstream. lol

"Asian American lawmaker reveals racist voicemails she received following Trump’s Covid slurs"

Democratic congresswoman Grace Meng has revealed racist voicemails she has received over the past year that have blamed her and Asian-Americans for the coronavirus pandemic.

“I’m calling about the Karate Kid virus, or the kung flu virus or the whatever – it came from Asia. It’s not racist. It’s the truth. Filthy people,” one man said in a voicemail shared by Ms Meng.

While a woman in a separate voicemail told the lawmaker: “Hey, you look like a Chinese virus, you fat slob,” and added: “You look like a Wuhan, you ugly fat slob!”

The New York congresswoman then explained that the voicemails were a fraction of the abuse that Asian-Americans have faced during the pandemic.

I mean I do not like the term kung flu. it is a disservice to that mighty discipline
Wu-Flu is accurate and denotes the origin of the virus

How do you know? The epidemiologists are not sure yet. Tracking it back can take a lot of time.

Asian Americans Hail Biden's Hate Crime Plea: 'Stark Contrast to Trump's Kung Flu rhetoric'
