I never said anything about disarming the population. So, put that one to rest.

In my life, I’ve seen more gun crimes than probably any 10 people on this forum. So, don’t hand me the ‘big government control’ bullshit. It doesn’t fly.

The bottom line is this, pure and simple. There are too many guns EASILY available to too many people that should never have them in the first place. Until this country addresses that issue on multiple levels, we will continue to have 40,000+ deaths a year.
 
Examine the process of just illegalizing the leading causes of death, and where that leads.

eventually people will be mostly dying from old age, illegalizing that means killing everyone while younger

Then explain your plan on why you want to ban me from owning an "AR-15" or "high capacity magazines". What is the logic other than to control the population and dictate to them what you believe is best?

IMO, you and your Democratic party are seeking to cure the symptoms instead of the disease. The disease is human beings who want to harm themselves or others. You, OTOH, want to bubble wrap them to protect them from themselves because that's what you have determined is best for them.

I’ve never said what’s best for any one individual, pal. I’m talking about what’s best for our society as a whole. Taking every measure possible to minimize those 40,000 annual deaths is just that.

There are plenty of laws on the books that “penalize” so-called law abiding people because a minority of assholes can’t act responsibly.

And quit trying to put words in my mouth about banning anything. Those claims were never made.

Sorry, dude, that's anti-American. It's one thing for you to say you support your city or state banning open carry or requiring a permit but it's another when you seek to dictate to over 330M Americans what you think is best for them.

Here's another thought. I'm among the 75-90%, whatever it was, that supports "common sense gun laws". The problem is people like you who will twist that into gun bans. Democrats have had a hardon to ban guns well over 30 years. It's an obsession like the Republicans have for abortion.

I don't trust you or either party because you support depriving people of rights, not seeking to enhance their rights.

I also don't trust liars and pushing the lie about "gun violence" without differentiating between suicide and murder is a lie.

Well, if you think mental illness is the cause and reason for mass shootings, then you must also support mandatory psych evaluations for every single gun owner and prospective gun owner in the US in order to prevent any mentally ill people from having guns.

That will inevitably lead to many gun owners losing their weapons, and who do you think they'll blame for that? Me, or the person who said they shouldn't have guns because they're not mentally fit?

So the only way to prevent mentally ill people from getting guns is to screen every single gun owner.

How else do you prevent an undiagnosed crazy person from getting a gun?

You like to say "oh there are laws that prevent selling a gun to a crazy person"...yeah...IF THEY'VE BEEN DIAGNOSED. If they haven't been diagnosed, how is anyone to know not to sell them a gun?
