No, they pulled about 20% of the police department's budget.
Additionally they instituted a bunch of reforms in bail practices and limitations on police force that have essentially caused the police to not get involved until it is a matter of life or death.
The streets are rapidly deteriorating back to the 1980s. The worst is yet to come.
I read somewhere that about 75% of today's New Yorkers did not live here in the 1980s, so they have no idea of how bad it can get here.

We were discussing NYC, which I am familiar with.
I don't know about Indianapolis. Perhaps they have poor leadership in their police department who have poor crime prevention skills.
Maybe as I mentioned about NY, the legislature is passing legislation normalizing crime or the District Attorney is failing on his end.
Whatever the case, cutting back on the front line enforcers is not going to reduce crime. That is concrete fact.
