This is a fallacy based on expertise. If someone does not identify a weapon properly, then the people are not dead. This is an old one and invalid. No, this is functionally illiterate people making claims in the public realm to further a political agenda. It is the same sort of bullshit you see with nuclear power. They try to make claims about the dangers of this or that with some idiot technical jargon they have no idea about like is done on science fiction shows and hope nobody notices. This guy purchased a rifle to kill people--LEGALLY. He lied on forms to do that and the seller knew no better. My bet is he picked the Ruger design on the basis of cost--that is, what he could afford.
