So you're in hypothetical land, and I'm in reality.

Like I said earlier, when someone kills 60 people in 60 seconds with a bow, then I'll be happy to talk about arrow control.

Being able to shoot 6 arrows in 5 seconds with a bow you invented and crafted yourself does not equate to killing 60 people in 60 seconds.
 
This isn't about gun control not working.
It's about not having working gun control.

An American citizen in good standing has the globally unique right, constitutionally guaranteed, to own firearms.
How, what kind, when, or where isn't constitutionally guaranteed without reservations, however.
If there were no control over firearms, we'd all be allowed to shoot whomever the hell we felt like shooting.
The legal prohibition of that is an example that gun control is constitutional.

We're American, so we often cap one another's ass anyway...but technically, we're not allowed.

When you come to the realization that it's stupid to sacrifice personal and social safety so that a few people can feel like their dicks aren't too small, you start to understand that the problem is the addiction people have to guns.

You didn't mention anything about mass shootings.

If you want a high number of deaths that were not caused by guns? Look no further than the terrorist attack in Nice, France. A truck was used.

There's a lot of truth in your statement.
To be fair, though, sporting arms are sporting goods. Some people with normal phallus dimension enjoy these sports.
Corvettes are dangerous too if you act like an asshole driving one.

Trying to make the argument that some particular weapons are sporting arms is obviously an exercise in disingenuousness.
Also, the 2nd was worded poorly.
Thanks to that, lots of idiots think that they're allowed to own any kind of gun to keep the duly elected government in line.
Just toss a net over those types.

Guns do the same thing to your brain that drugs do...release endorphins.

It is the release of those endorphins to which most of them are addicted.

That's why claims that guns are there "for personal safety" or "for self-defense" or "as a bulwark against the government" or "to hunt animals" are all false and all bullshit. You can accomplish all of those things without a gun.

The guns are there because they trigger (no pun intended) the release of endorphins in the brain, which provides calm, satisfaction, or security.

Well, since this attack happened in France, not the US, we don't know if the maniac would have used a gun instead of the truck.

I can't speak for what France did after that attack to prevent future ones, but whatever they did sure seems to have worked because there hasn't been one since in France, right?

That's cool.
There are plenty of things about our constitution that I regard as despicable too, although that's not one of them [the actual amendment wording sucks, though]..
But given the constitution that we have, we are globally unique in having the right, not privilege, to own firearms.
Different constitution, different country. That's a topic for debate as well.
But this forum is for venting, not for debate.
 
Everything depends upon what the definition of "work" is, what is trying to be done, which is very often not what is claimed to be the goal.....we do live in an age of colossal liars.
