giving tax breaks with one hand

yanking more back with the other.

Taxpayers to get rude surprise

Millions of Americans enjoying their small windfall from President Barack Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax credit are in for an unpleasant surprise next spring.

The government is going to want some of that money back.

The tax credit is supposed to provide up to $400 to individuals and $800 to married couples as part of the massive economic recovery package enacted in February. Most workers started receiving the credit through small increases in their paychecks in the past month.

But new tax withholding tables issued by the IRS could cause millions of taxpayers to get hundreds of dollars more than they are entitled to under the credit, money that will have to be repaid at tax time.

At-risk taxpayers include a broad swath of the public: married couples in which both spouses work; workers with more than one job; retirees who have federal income taxes withheld from their pension payments and Social Security recipients with jobs that provide taxable income.

Stimulate the economy and get some of the money back. Kinda sounds smart to me.
How much of the bank bailout money will we get back?

Whatsa matta with you anyway STU? Whine about the Obama defecit and now whine about something that reduces it.

IS the stimulus working, usc? In your idiotic opinion?

Not much so far. We have just propped up the banks and such with trillions and they are just in a propped up state.

The only part that is working at all so far is the help the huritng people parts that we have so far.

awesome misdirection of the main point. typical obama apologist in action.

what you are obviously trying to avoid answering is the so called 'tax breaks' that lower income people thought they were going to get is going to be cancelled out with new tax tables, resulting in higher taxes.

Obama appears to have lied to the people about tax cuts.

You seem to have a reading comprehension problem.

Now how are we going to pay for the bailout and other defecit money unless we increase taxes?
Only a Bushie type of fool would think we do not have to raise taxes to pay for the defecit.

I do want to see the bulk of those increase on the top few percent of taxpayers since they get more good out of America than the ones that have much smaller incomes.

so you're saying it's ok Obama lied about tax cuts, because he had to pay for the bailouts and the people should suck it up, because Obama knows what he's doing?

you sound like a conservative supporting the patriot act. They at first said it would only be used to fight terrorists.....then they used it against regular criminals and the bush apologists said 'why wouldn't we use all our tools available to fight crime?'.

so you're really conservative at heart, aren't you? no problem using lies and deception against americans at all.

Where is the lie about the tax cuts? People are getting the tax cuts. The problem is under the withholding tables some people are getting back more than the $400 or $800:

The "stimulus" is a patch on the same bubble that caused the problem to begin with. Gotta get that credit flowing!

I don't want to micro-manage the car companies, but if they don't make the car I want with the plan I want in the time I want them to then they'll be in trouble and I'll fire their CEO.

um, no. but real masterful and slick wording there.

The supposed tax breaks are less than promised, so in the end of it all, people will have to pay some of it back. That's an increase in taxes.

The stimulus has little to do with getting credit flowing. The bank bailouts on the other hand . . .

No it isn't. You're being a jackass. The tax breaks are exactly as promised but under the IRS withholding tables people are getting back more than promised.

right, forgot about the stimulus just being a way to fund major democrat pet projects with billions and billions to supply some jobs and call it jumpstarting the economy.
