Weekly Tracking Poll: Boehner Still Most Unpopular Politician In USA

Good news and bad news from our weekly tracking poll.

The bad news is, Dems' numbers have slipped a couple of points across the board. The good news is, so have Republicans' numbers...and given that they were already inhabiting the lowest depths of electoral unpopularity, that's a bad sign.

Research 2000 for Daily Kos. 5/4-7,2009. All adults. MoE 2% (4/20-4/23/2009 results):
FAVORABLE UNFAVORABLE NET CHANGE
PRESIDENT OBAMA 69 (70) 26 (25) -2

PELOSI: 37 (38) 46 (45) -2
REID: 34 (34) 49 (49) -1
McCONNELL: 21 (21) 61 (60) -1
BOEHNER: 16 (16) 63 (62) -1

CONGRESSIONAL DEMS: 43 (44) 49 (49) -1
CONGRESSIONAL GOPS: 13 (14) 72 (71) -2

DEMOCRATIC PARTY: 53 (54) 41 (40) -2
REPUBLICAN PARTY: 21 (22) 69 (68) -2

With abominable favorables of 16/63, it appears that John Boehner is the most unpopular politician in the United States of America.

The only thing worse off than Boehner is his flock: Congressional Republicans check in at 13% favorable, 72% unfavorable, indicating that they're more widely hated than Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Democratic Party still has a wide favorability edge over the Goposaurs:

And our fearless leader is still chugging along:

Not a great week for anyone, really, but Team Blue is still leaps and bounds ahead of the Goposaurs, who are really mining new levels of suckitude at this point.

Daily Kos? You might was well be referencing Newsmax or Fox News. LOL

Unlike Newsmax or Fox News, Daily Kos doesn't pretend like its anything but an opinion blog. When they post a poll there's no reason to disbelieve them; they cite reputable polling agencies and just throw in a lot of snark in between.

Sorry Water, there's this thing called credibility and The Daily KOS is no more credible then Fox or NewsMax or the other propaganda sites. They may be less militant and substantially more competent then their right wing counterparts but that doesn't change the fact that they are a left wing propaganda blog.

Do you doubt the accuracy of their polls? They will present a one sided view on the polls in their comments on them, but the polls themselves are the main news, and they're accurate.

Don't ever discredit an article due to the source again there fellah. You can't have it both ways.

If you stand by this post, then you must also hold as gospel FoxNews, Cato, and the Sun.

Good to know you get your news from objective sources.

Fire muff.

I trust FoxNews when they publish a poll just as much as I trust MSNBC. When NewMax posts an article of a subjective nature, like "Liberal state = less freedom", I feel free to tear it apart. When DailyKos posts something of subjective nature, you can feel free to tear it apart as well. NewsMax and Fox, however, rarely post polls or unambiguous statistics because that would be truth, and truth is the vaccine to the conservative virus.

how anyone thinks fox is worse than any other media news channel is beyond me. fox reports, with their own slant, though i see a more unbiased slant with fox....and cnn, cbs, nbc...all report with their own bias.

this faux anger about fox alone is laughable.

On face value no. The republicans answer to their growing unpopularity is to move farther and farther to the right. It's freaking incomprehensible to me why they would do so but that is what's happening. However, that's not the point. The point is how to measure the validity of the poll. In that respect there are three questions the objective observer has to ask themselves.

#1. Does the organization asking the polling question(s) have a vested interest in the outcome of the results?
#2. How were the poling questions asked? Were they phrases in a manner that is leading or introduces bias?
#3. What sampling method was used? Is that sampling size and method representative? Is it statistically significant? Does the sampling method introduce bias?

Now since we don't know the answers to questions #2 or #3 we have to take it on faith that the questioning and sampling were performed in an objective and unbiased manner and that brings us back to question #1. If the organization has a vested interest in the outcome of the poll and the evidence is not provided on that poll regarding the questioning and sampling method then a healthy dose of skepticism is certainly in order about the polls results. In this particular case it's pretty obvious that the Daily Kos has a vested interest in the polls outcome.

Yea well you fail to mention that Fox News is a propaganda organ for a major political party. One may argue for liberal bias in the major news media and you may or may not be right. The difference between Fox News and Daily Kos with major news outlets such as CNN and Network News is that they are propagandist. So therefore they are beyond biased. They are advocating a specific political view. So anyone who views Fox or Kos as news outlets is a manipulated moron in the finest tradition of Orwell.

Which would be relevant if Daily Kos, and not Research2000, had done the poll.

Bullshit.

It's mentioned in the article, asshole. Doubt gravity next. God your such a douchebag. You should be ashamed of yourself for your behavior. You don't even care whether or not its true, you are just going on this rant to prove that your a moderate. You're not a moderate. You are to the left of me. This is FACT. Denying FACTS (like the results of scientific polls) just because you want to pretend your still a moderate doesn't make you a moderate, it just makes you look IGNORANT, asswipe. You are a partisan fucking HACK, and an unintelligent one at that.

Who are they and how do I know that they don't have a vested interest in the outcome?

They are a polling company. DailyKos is one of their customers, and they contract them to run polls on issues. This is how the polling industry works - companies contract Rasmussen, Gallup, Research 2000 etc... to run polls. This is how the polling industry works. A polling firm that gave out inaccurate polls that gave a purposefully sunny view that the contracting company wanted to see wouldn't be in business to long, because no ones interested in making decisions based on inaccurate information.

The Margin of error in this particular scientific poll is 2%:

Do you have enough yet, child? Are we done with our lesson for today? Or would you also like me to teach you how scientific polling works?

Mottley is an intelligent guy, but man does he go out of his way to try to prove he's a moderate. He does so even to the extent that he'll deny basically factually information if it will accomplish this. He wouldn't, however, have gone to such lengths to refute a poll that came to the opposite conclusion. Mottley is intelligent, but he's a poser extraordinaire.

I suggest you read my posting on the poll on which states are the most free. It's just as lacking in credibility as this one though from the opposite political extreme.

I haven't seen any evidence that Research 2000 is left-leaning at all. All I read was you complaining about the source that quoted Research 2000.
