What Critical Race Theory Teaches

:) I'm not a 'Poor Person' anymore. But I was. And I know what I went through. And those around me. 'Poor People' are deliberately Targeted by the Police. And The State supports the Police.
I was 10 in '64...how old are you?
2021 isn't '64....
I stated teaching in '77...Many changes over the years, many positive...but now things are speeding in reverse....It's heartbreaking....

You're making good points..you have been all along... And making the case for no formal CRT curriculum in schools...

:) I don't know what the 'Formal CRT Curriculum' is. If it advocates or advances 'Racial Hatred', I would be against that.

Another Story:
I get to New Orleans in 1965. I'm looking for an Apartment to rent. I see an Ad in the Paper, and go to the Address. I knock on the door. A woman opens the door (a Black woman). I said "Hi, I'm here about the Apartment". She says "We don't Rent to White people". I utter an audible laugh and say: "I think that is illegal". She says "Well, we still don't Rent to White people" ... and slams the door in my face. hahahahahahahaha ... I'm standing there, amazed, but still laughing over what just happened. It's like 'Am I in the fucking Twilight Zone or what?'.

So, 'Division', 'Racial Hatred', I don't believe is productive. I support a 'Dia de La Raza' approach of One People of Mixed Race as an example to the rest of the World as the Future.

I support a better world for our children and grandchildren...No CRT
included.... Working hard for that to happen....
( I've yet to see any positive lesson plans or messages involving CRT...)

CRT is just telling American history without sugar-coating the facts that would upset the white people. We are guilty of many vile acts toward minorities.

It is no accident blacks are at the bottom of the American economic system. The system has been taking advantage of minorities from the beginning. It never changed. Minorities have worse schools, fewer opportunities, far worse treatment from cops and the legal system.
All it takes is a couple of generations of removing the truth from our education and it will be scrubbed away.
CRT wants the facts taught to our kids. Repubs have made a huge deal because that is not what they want.
I did not even mention slavery, Jim Crow, Tuskegee Experiment, and the prison industry. The Reds want them deleted from history. They have never gone away.

For starters Asians perform better academically than white people. They are far over represented in top Universities in the country a degree that there are Ivy League schools that punish Asian applicants.

No one is taking away the teaching of slavery and the civil rights/Jim Crow, among other atrocities, in our schools. That's a flat out lie.

You've shown your bigotry here multiple times and the soft bigotry of low expectations is an insidious form of racism that you think certain minorities aren't capable of competing thus the reason we see school's and school districts pushing for the loosening of testing and standards.

Hello Jack,

Yeah. This kind of reminds me of this Black News anchor interview Eric Holder, Attorney General, about President Obama. At the end he says "We have so much further to go".
hahahahaha ... he's a Black News Anchor, talking to a Black Attorney General, about a Black US President. How much 'further' do we need to go? :)
You know, maybe there's just too many White people here?

The 'timing' of what you teach is the critical part. If little Johnny in Fifth grade feels he's been victimized all his life, he will grow up with that attitude. I don't think that is healthy for anyone.

Racial inequality still exists, so the job is not done.

We can pretend the job is done all we want, but that will not get the job done.

Knowledge is key. The better each generation understands the problem, the closer we can get to a full and complete solution.

We finally got a black president. That was huge progress. But the reaction in the explosion in the number of white supremacy movements and hate groups as a result of having a black president shows us just how much work remains.

People like Dylan Roof show us just how much work remains.

Hello Jack,

Well, Phantasmal wants 'real History' taught in Fifth Grade. But I agree with you 'History' is basically taught in High School. There is a 'time restraint' on what is taught. My view is that 'Brotherhood' comes before 'Division'. So that would lead me on what to teach at that age group.

Well we don't need to be lying to our children. That's not going to produce socially conscious adults.

It's a standard that a lot of lying goes on to whitewash our history for young learners. It's like we don't really want to tell them the whole truth about our history because there's a LOT of ugly there.

It seems to be the standard that we tell our youngest most impressionable minds this fairy tale version of the history of the USA where we are always the good guys, we never made any mistakes, and someone else is always to blame for preventable tragedies, and we always come riding in on the white horse to save the day, standing up for what is good and right.

The problem is that is not entirely correct.

And we don't always bother to correct it before they graduate high school.

So, it's kind of like a lie.

Our education system is lying to our children.

And it seems that more of that lying is going on in the private schools.

And it's really being done for profit.

Which is pretty low.

It's like selling out the future of the nation to get rich.

We need to fix that.

It prevents America from being great.

We need to stop the lying.

A great nation would be honest about her past and want to really try to change and create a better future.

And if you really care about education Nordberg as you claim do something about the education system. If you think the status quo plus CRT is somehow going to change things then you will be severely disappointed.

The great Glenn Loury speaking here.

Not born in '39, by chance, were you? Just checking....

Uh, 'No'. (Baby Boomer)
Hey. Did you ever hear about NOT going Shopping while you are hungry?
I want to confirm, ... that is something to remember! I just got back from the Store, and may have 'overbought' just now. :(

'Equality' comes with 'Economic Power'. In effect, the more 'Black Slave Owners' we have, the clearer the perception of 'the Oppressor Class' is NOT a Racial issue.

(shaking head) Why have you supported the Subjugation of Women. Women did NOT have the Right to Vote. This has been lost and MUST be taught in our schools.
The idea of 'Marriage' and it's accompanying 'Sex for Support' is abhorrent. Why do YOU support the custom of the Father 'giving' the Bride to her Husband? As though she is a Piece of Property.
It's disturbing that these atrocities have been Ignored for TOO LONG!

Hello Jack,

Better to correct both issues simultaneously.

You know, as long as we are at it.

Hello Jack,

The point I was trying to make is, in the World of Today, how much time do you want to Dwell in the Past?

Enough to properly teach our accurate real history to each succeeding generation.

And as we learn more, more should be taught.

Being unaware of mistakes having been made in the past is a good way to ensure the available lessons are not learned; and the mistakes will be repeated.

No problem with that. The problem is teaching that America is presently a "systemically" racist country. Its utter bullshit.

I agree.

I don't believe America is "systemically" a racist country, but I do believe racism is hiding in a lot of places.

It's up to us to call out racism when we see it.

Tarrant Mississippi just elected their 1st black Mayor, and when he went to the sheriff to discuss why the town had no black Deputies, the sheriff told him “I don’t hire black officers because black officers don’t like to police their own.”

That to me sounds sort of racist.
