The parties switched in the 1960's because Goldwater took the GOP in an anti-Civil Rights direction as purely an electoral strategy.

so you're admitting that for almost 100 YEARS after the 13th Amendment, Democrats still continued to abuse blacks and enslave them for manual labor. got it. I also find it interesting that you are in favor of the anti black civil rights movement in order to simply garner votes from a race you considered stupid..........

I never denied that, so I'm not sure what you think you're proving here.

Yeah, the Democratic Party has a shitty racist history, but the Republican party is currently shitty and racist.

The constant? Conservatism.

So it's not the political parties that are racist per se, it's the ideology behind the party that is racist.

For 100 years, as you accurately describe, the Democratic party's ideology was racist because it was filled with Southern Conservatives...but then the GOP took that over in the 1960's as Conservatives flocked to that party because of Civil Rights.

That's why there are no liberal Republicans anymore, and there haven't been any for about 60 years.

This is incoherent.

Conservatives opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and those Conservatives left the Democratic Party for the Republican Party.

That's why there are no liberals in today's GOP.

More Democrats voted for the Civil Rights Act than Republicans, and not a single Southern Republican Representative voted for the CRA, and only two Southern-ish Republican Senators did (and they were both from Kentucky which is Southern-ish).

Texas had both a Democratic and Republican Senator in 1964. Guess which one voted for the CRA and which one voted against it.

Incidentally, I've been reading it up, and I gather that the whole kerfuffle is pure politics, since no schools anywhere are teaching what the nazis call 'Critical Race Theory'.
