Maine woman, 77, pulls gun on armed intruder and sends him running, court documents say

MACHIAS, Maine (Associated Press) -- After being told by her daughter that a man in their home was an armed intruder, a 77-year-old woman pulled a gun on him and sent him running, according to court documents. The Bangor Daily News reported that family members have been referring to Doris Gatchell of Princeton as "Annie Oakley" after she confronted the man Friday.

Suspect Dean T. Moore made his first appearance Monday in Washington County Superior Court.

The newspaper reported that he faces up to 30 years in jail and fines of up to $50,000 on each of the two most serious charges of burglary with a firearm and robbery.

Moore was picked up Friday and taken to the Washington County Jail.

Attorney Jeffrey Davidson was appointed to represent Moore.
 
The gun fraidy cats would prefer that she and her daughter be victims to this man. They think that merely calling the police would have been enough. She has no right to protect herself and her property. God damn that gun nut granny.

gun control proponents are just terrified of reality, but it's not their fault. They appear to have never been taught that real life is chaotic and uncertain at all times and that one must assume responsibility for their own safety. Because they couldn't be certain that they would always be safe, they denied that responsibility for themselves and foisted it upon a select group of people. In doing so, they need to force others to live that way so they feel justified in their attempt to create the peaceful utopia.
