Evangelicals fume as GOP surrenders in gay marriage wars

Looks like someone in the RNC made the calculation that there are more LGBTQ ppl and allies than there are anti-SSM/rights ppl in the evangelical contingent. They also saw the writing on the wall as far as their base's demographics go.

The commercial industry was the first segment to implement LGBTQ outreach. Typically well educated people with good paying jobs and few or no children. When the cruise lines and luxury car dealers and clothing labels discovered that people with a lot of disposable income are good customers, they started specifically advertising to the community. Republicans are notoriously stupid and painfully slow to discard their discrimination, but they followed the money, like they always do. They want donations but still call us faggots behind our backs (and sometimes even to our faces). LGBTQ people should not support anything about the current Republican party. It makes as much sense to be an LGBTQ Republican as it does to be a Black Republican.

Republicans only cared about gay marriage because it was an easy wedge issue to get the closeminded
On the Down Low redneck vote.

It is well known that the people who oppose same sex marriage and homosexuality the most, especially evangelicals, have homosexual tendencies themselves and often act on them in secret. I should know.

If I believe something is genuinely wrong I do not throw in the towel and surrender.

It sounds like GOP leadership always just considered gay marriage a phony culture war issue to motivate the rubes, much like wars on Christmas, critical race theory, and the imminent threat of sharia law

There are plenty of Christians who hate LGBTQ folks, but I think you're right that the RNC only used same sex marriage to manipulate voters. As the past several years have shown us, the RNC doesn't actually have any policy positions. The exist 100% to raise money and buy votes.

You are shooting blanks. The incest argument didn't work for you from 2000 to 2020, there is no reason to believe it will work for you in 2021

I wonder when he started leaving out bestiality. Taft is the type of person that would have warned us against bestiality a lot before Obergefell.

You're trying to equate three different things that are not at all alike. Polygamy and incestuous marriage are still illegal in all 50 states, and have zero to do with SSM. BTW, you forgot to throw in bestiality.

Great minds! (Re: bestiality) That was an intentional omission to me.

Well I wouldn't say that there are "plenty" (whatever that means) of Christians who hate LGBTQ folks. A good portion of them (usually Fundamentalist Baptists) do. The other part just think it's a sin and could spell doom for this country and this world. (Which doesn't even make any sense because I would think they would want Jesus to return.)

As to the GOP existing to raise money and buy votes, I agree. Policies on abortion and SSM show that.

I cannot vote in Russia and cannot participate in their civic dialogue.

Nikodem (or whatever his name is on any given day) couldn't stay on topic if his life depended it. He hates everything that isn't a white Pole and thinks he can justify his racist views with intellectualism. He is a sick, deranged, and dangerous person.

So which is it, fuck face? Evangelicals or all conservatives?
You are rage-posting based on what you wish I wrote, not what I actually wrote.

Evangelicals was Politico's choice of words.

I did not say all conservatives opposed ssm. My experience on jpp is with consevatives, because I believe the vast majority of righty posters here are not actual authentic christians based on how they present themselves -- you for example.

What's with all you pathetic cunts always saying it's Evangelicals who are so evil?
Yell at someone else about that. I have gone out of my way to remind lefty that Evangelicals include liberal whites [aka,Jimmy and Roslyn Carter] as well as traditionally black Protestant churches.

I support polygamy amongst consenting adults. I do not support it amongst religious nutcases that force their underaged daughters to marry. I don’t feel that it’s any of my business if sister brides want to share a husband.

I object to incestuous marriages because of inbreeding and danger to the children produced through those unions. I know a couple in AK that married, they are first cousins and they have two children both who have a lot of physical problems. First cousin marriages are legal in Alaska.

yet parents can allow a young child to decide what gender he or she is? WOW

Hate the sin and not the sinner? I guess I can buy that. Whether they hate LGBTQ people or LGBTQ activities, I regard it rather the same. Irrational judgment is a cornerstone of most religions.

When I started on this forum this was one of the most prominent and high-profile debate topics; liberals holding that same-sex marriage should be legal, conservatives largely claiming that it was immoral or would portend the doom of traditional marriages.
Same sex relations are not marriages. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Between a man and a woman, procreation (in principle) is possible. That possibility is nonexistent in gay relationships, thus gay "marriage" is meaningless. Attempting to sexualize man-man/woman-woman relations is a perversion of marriage, as those types of relations can only ever be platonic in their end result (as procreation is impossible).

That's how I explained to them IRL.

Being gay is a part of their personhoods. Hating the "sin" of being gay is hating the gay "sinner".

Who said that marriages have to result in children?

Then I think my original statement stands: "There are plenty of Christians who hate LGBTQ folks."

Well that is true, however some just don't understand that they are actually hating them.

My mother who is a devout Christian has a gay couple for her neighbor. She has talked with them a lot and she was always impressed with how clean their house and lawn are. LOL. Just a very nice couple and smart.

She admitted to me that she couldn't understand how it could be a "bad thing" for them. I mean look at them.

I told her well welcome to the real world. LOL.

Gay marriage is legal in America
