damo just lies about everything O_O you have to watch the guy.

That rat bastard! LOL

Now ya see, I don't think he's lying, I just think he and I have two different understandings of the origins of the name EXXON.

Yeah, I wouldn't read much into this. The company presumably does not operate in America, so American culture is pretty much irrelevant to it's branding. Although, if the Nigerians get offended enough by some meaning completely and totally irrelevant to Nigerian and Russian culture to actually change it, so be it.

Grow up little boy.

How many times are you going to try to bait me with this bullshit.

I know what "niggardly" means you fucking moron and my comment you used it on has nothing whatsoever to do with niggardly.

LOL, wow. I don't think I've ever seen such an overreaching attempt to use the word 'niggardly'. LMAO, the dumb redneck couldn't even use it the correct context!!!!!

Niggardly is such an archaic word that it's only real use these days is to bring up the offensive word in the minds of others. I think exceptions can be granted for old and stupid people, but otherwise no one would ever use the word. SM's attempt was racism, plain and simple.

The name is meant to be an amalgamation of 'Nigeria' and 'Gazprom', pronounced 'nye-gaz', but it can be read phonetically as an offensive term for those of black African origin.

Many comments on the blunder were from white bloggers.
But others mocked the mistake - one African-American suggested a playlist of songs from U.S. hip-hop artists for the Nigaz launch party.
One Nigerian in Lagos said: 'White people are making too much of this.
'As long as the Russians pay us, they can call it what they like.'

Which doesn't change my point one bit. It's funny. Nigaz has the funniest company name I've seen in a long time. Too bad it was unintentional.

A few years ago; there was an article how some of the advertising from the US, didn't translate to other countries very well.

"Come alive with the Pepsi Generation"
meant
"Pepsi will bring your ancestors back from the grave."
in Taiwan.

:0)

He learned a new word that sounded like a slur and of course was anxious to use it. Nobody ever told him what it meant.

He can't figure out why we're laughing at him.
