This is so not about political parties. Nixon pursued many of the same policies in Vietnam and his administration cost many lives as well.

wars develop a life of their own until enough of the public decides enough is enough

I am not so naive that I think we should never fight another war.

But before those idiots in DC send our kids to die they need to have a damn good reason. And if the reasons turn out to be false (like Iraq or Vietnam) the leaders involved should be lined up and shot.

That was the ultimate lesson about the Vietnam war that Bushco failed to learn. You cannot lie to the American people about something as important as war and then expect them to support your cause when the've learned that they were lied to.

MacNamara was an asshole that is responsible for the deaths of thousands of our soldiers. And the repoublican administration who followed was no better.

You want to try and do the "democrats are dumb" routine when it is painfully obvious that both parties have done the same thing.

I never ran scared of anything dummy you democrats ran away from it two years before I graduated high school.

Richard Nixon pulled us out of Vietnam. So if you are calling it "running away" you should at least credit the right political party.

But the United States should never have been in Vietnam in the first place. The sooner you recognize that the better off you will be.

And the reason 3 million South Vietnamese were killed is because of a tyrannical despot not the lack of aid. If the troops had stayed would they have been slaughtered?? Wow that makes Nixon responsible for their deaths.

Oh lookie you called me numbnuts wow I'm scared now. If the Democrats in Congress didn't cut off funding and let our guys do what needed to be done then three million people wouldn't have died.

Nixon pulled the troops out. The democratic party gained a majority in '72 and Nixon pulled the troops out in '73. The peace treaty was negotiated under Nixon. It was too little too late but it was one thing he jsutifiably gets credit for.


You still think of war as some grand competition. Try and understand that we NEVER should have been there in the first place.

The fact that the democrats cut funding is a GOOD thing. They finally realized that it was wasted money.

And none of this changes the fact that McNamara was an asshole who deserves to be roasting in hell and that both political parties screwed the pooch in that war and other wars.

It also doesn't change the fact that you were a coward and did not step up and serve.

Our guys didn't need to be there in the first place.

The Kmer Rouge was a false communist group run by a vicious dictator. If we had not been fighting in Vietnam for the previous decade or so there is a good chance Pol Pot would not have stayed in power.

He didn't pull out because of a lack of funding. He pulled out because he had managed to negotiate a peace treaty.

YOu are still ignoring the fact that no american troops should have been there in the first place.

You are a typical "hawk". You won't serve yourself but you have no problem sending others to die. That is called cowardice.
