True Dat. I'm always thankful that I'm Christian rather than Muslim or Jewish, because pork, ham, and bacon are just too damned good to abstain from. Hell, Muslims aren't even allowed to drink the beer that I so love...

Basically, conservationists will do works projects, like maintaining forests, buying up land for public parks and reserves, restoration projects, etc. Environmentalists will tend to target businesses for massive regulation, advocate for carbon credits, and all of the things that we see them do today, but the movement does indeed spring from conservationism, and particularly the movement that came out of the 1890 Census, which declared the Frontier closed, making everyone realize that the resources of the continent have limits. Interestingly it is animal rights that would kind of be a bridge between the two camps, and yet it is the area with the most notorious extremists, such as PETA.

Environmentalists are the activists of conservation.

Without the environmentalists, conservation and care of the environment would have to be granted, not demanded. There is a big difference brother, especially when alarms are going off that the environment is in danger.

Without environmentalists more species would become extinct at a faster rate and American health would be in greater danger.

Conservationists don't make waves because they are generally directed by bureaucracy, whereas, environmentalists do make waves and demands because they are the "we the people" arm of protecting the planet.

I've never been with the arm-chair approach to life.

at the same time their Demands are keeping us tied to foreign countries who hate us for our energy..

If you don't like their demands you have the right to protest against them, but you do not have the right to silence them. It's real simple.

Question: Why wouldn't oil-producing, usually arab nations, hate us? One word .. history. Take a peek in there and you'll find all the reasons they hate us .. including the mass-murder of innocents in the Iraq war (small "w").

Many of the environmentalists believe that what they are doing is more important than our dependency on foreign countries.

If we were allowed to exploit the natural resources without restrictions, they would be gone that much sooner. Then we would be dependent on foreign countries AND have some ecological disastors to deal with.

The damages done to natural ecosystems is not something that can be fixed with the bandaid nonsense like planting rows of pine trees. The damages can last centuries (if not forever).

They have the right to make demands on everyone because what they are demanding is the preservation of the natural world, which in turn, is the preservation of our lives.

And before you respond, I am not talking about the fruitcake radical environmentalists and EarthFirsters.
