Justice Scalia to retire

He's 73. By the end of President Obama's second term, he'll be 81.

Roberts is 54, Alito is 59 and Thomas 61, so unless "something" happens they may make it a few more years.

Congress has the right to impeach a Supreme Court Justice.

Impeachment is a two-step process; articles of impeachment are presented and the House of Representatives passes them by a simple majority, the Justice is "impeached," and proceeds to trial in the Senate.

The Senate trial determines whether a Justice (or other officeholder) should be removed from office on the basis of the evidence presented at impeachment.

The Senate needs a 2/3 super majority for conviction. We're nearly there!

Damn straight. He's a sprite 73 now, probably has 15 years left active, and he can still remain justice long after.

To be impeached, a justice, president, or any position subject to impeachment, the individual must be accused of an actual crime. Fortunately for this nation, (though there are those who wish otherwise) holding an opposing political opinion is not (yet) a crime. Very few elected congress people will vote for impeachment or conviction just because of party lines.

But it is interesting how the far left pukes are displaying more and more their totalitarian tendencies for all to see. Shows us who the real fascist types are when it comes to politics.

Yes it truly is. A while back Grind gave a million rep points to one of them on a whim, who then pos rep'd some of his liberal buddies and neg rep'd several conservatives. It was a clear demonstration of near-instantaneous abuse of power and took poor Grind a while to get things back to normal.

In a discussion about impeaching a supreme court justice, you bring up that trivial bullshit with the rep points???

Overreact much?

WaterMark, we are all getting to that time.

As I stated, it was a clear demonstration of liberal's fascist and totalitarian tendencies. *shrug*

May I assume that you have a much anticipated date with WaterMark, the death wisher?

A ridiculous comparison. Worse than Dixie could ever manage. Impeaching a supreme court justice and handing out lots of rep point that have no meaning are not even in the same realm.

You can assume what you will. There was nothing I said that would logically lead you to that conclusion. But I am sure you will assume whatever you wish.

now there you go spoiling the fun and injecting logic and law into the mess

people are living into their nineties more and more

my mom born in 1918 lived until she was almost 88

but yeah, holding opposing political opinions is not 'yet' a crime even though there are those that wish it were
