Halle Berry won best actress for her performance in the drama “Monster’s Ball”. Berry’s character Leticia Musgrove was a filthy slut and a whore. Leticia sold her body to Hank for shelter in exchange for sex. Leticia and Hank’s relationship was not love but a transaction. Would Hank “allow” Leticia to move into his house if she wasn’t a young beautiful woman?

Jennifer Hudson won best supporting actress for her role in “Dreamgirls”. Hudson’s character Effie White was the classic stereotypical black female R&B singer. A young black actress can only be a “singer” in order to win an Oscar.

Denzel won a best actor Oscar for his performance in Training Day. However, Denzel’s character in Training Day was a crooked cop. Denzel should of won for Malcolm X. The Academy gives Denzel an Oscar for a negative film role instead of a positive film role.

The Oscars are not about whether it is a positive or negative message. It is an award for quality of acting. And the ones I have seen from your list are all top quality acting.

If you only saw that Halle Berry was a whore then you missed the anguish of a mother losing her child and of a man coming to grips with his family legacy and changing his racist ways.

It is also about making sure PC movies ands liberal actors are rewarded for spreading their liberal views in their work and being good lillte libs

Most of the stuff coming from Hollywood is pure crap and I could really care less about the Oscars
 
Forest Whitaker's skin was "darkened" in order to make him look more "sinister"?

And here's me thinking it may have been because he was playing Idi Amin, a very dark skinned African chap.

Movies are about entertainment. If someone takes their political views from a fictional portrayal then they are idiots.
 
People are powerfully influenced by what they see and hear. Much of the gains that Progressives have achieved in the past half century have been due to the solidarity of our brothers and sisters in the entertainment world. Fictional characters and portrayals of events whether real or not can shape public opinion.

The danger is that some racist reactionaries still have a platform for their Hate Speech.


That's why we need the Fairness Doctrine again.

Liberals do need fiction to advance their agenda. They can't expect to rely on their actual accomplishments to get the job done
 
Truly talented artists perform many valuable services for Progressivism.

Changing people's minds about issues and influencing the young are vital to eliminating antisocial behaviors and beliefs whose existence can no longer be tolerated.

That's why Progressives strive to maintain such good relations with educators, media personalities and artists.

The influence wielded by actors and other famous artists is just proof of the idiocy of the average citizen.

An actor has no special knowledge of events or politics, and yet the are lauded as "experts". Total bullshit.

But by the same token, claiming that the roles mentioned in the first post are racist is just as much bullshit. It is a role in a movie. Not real life.

People on both sides of the political fence would do well to think about the meaning of the word "fiction".

Then the kids go to college which are also run by libs

Then the movie industry are for the most part are run by libs

As is most of the media
