worry that an increase in immigrants will threaten their jobs

61% of Trump voters said they were concerned about getting paid less due to an increase in immigrants in the US, per a new poll.
Another 51% said they were worried about losing their current job for the same reasons.

The article is nothing but a thought-terminating cliché. The writer omits one word consistently throughout the article, and this is common with Leftists when the subject of immigration comes up.

That word is Illegal.

I would absolutely agree that Trump supporters are against Illegal immigration, as are the vast majority of Americans. The article conflates legal immigration--which everyone pretty much supports and agrees with-- with Illegal immigration which few outside the radical Left, support.

The article is nothing but a propaganda hit piece using a logical fallacy as its basis...

There have been about two million posts by Deplorables here just in the last six weeks, articulating hostility to setting the Afghan immigrants and their families in USA.

That is exactly how we know the brazen claim that righwingers are supposedly only against illegal immigration was always a blatant lie.

I'd say two things can be true.

1) you are correct - it's a b.s. article in that they don't differentiate between legal and illegal

&

2) there are groups on the right that want reduced legal immigration as well - Trump even passed, or attempted to pass, some legislation doing just that

One thing the article doesn't discuss is you know when liberals complain about immigration? When it comes to H1-B visas. They mock those who think illegals will take their jobs but then complain about immigrants working in the tech field under these programs for (supposedly) less money.

Given the manner in which these "immigrants" were brought here--

Unvetted
Many underserving
Some potentially enemies of the US
etc.,

I'd say people have a legitimate concern that most don't deserve refuge here, particularly when many who do were left behind--along with US citizens I might add.

I don't think most Americans would be adverse to Afghan refugees who deserve that status coming to the US. On the other hand, most Americans are adverse to a process that is entirely random and without controls, which is precisely how the Joke administration handled the whole Afghan rout debacle.

I am not against immigration, but I am against a a policy of taking in huddled masses yearning to breathe free

We are a mature nation now - our immigration policy should reflect this fact. We want primarily the best and brightest, not people unwilling to fight for change in their own country but would rather run from problems.

Whose to say people who want to come didn't try and fight for change in their home country? Most recently we can look to Afghanistan. If you were say a translator who worked with the U.S. forces wouldn't you say they were trying to fight and change their country? And we know what the Taliban would do to them once we left.

Edit: And too your point of being a mature nation we can look to many mature European countries and their aging populations and lack of economic growth as a result. If American is going to remain a vibrant and global leader we don't have enough births to sustain that on our own, immigration will play a huge role.

Also - this is why I do not respect liberals.

you refuse to fix problems, but agree to create more

We use 25% of the energy. We use 27% of copper

How does allowing more people to come in here and live better than they did in their third world hell hole fix this?

You guys are ignoring the problems YOU create. You let in millions more into a country where 90% of us have air conditioning, stop pretending you have a fix for the environment. You don't. you win voted with promises. and you will keep doing so.

it's fucked because for 30 years we continue to steal from the future and spend now. That is why everyone wants to come here. We are frauds. We spend in excess and than export depreciating dollars making third world hell holes pay for a part of it.

The elite refusing to maintain borders is the #1 driver of the so-called populist movement both in America and Europe....which we have known for years. The Revolution opening the border without the consent of the nation is going to be a problem for them. They obviously intend to keep power by force.
