Hawaii again declares Obama birth certificate real

...

"I ... have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen," Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said in a brief statement. "I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago."

Fukino issued a similar press release Oct. 31, but was prompted to speak out again because of the renewed attention on Obama's beginnings. Hawaii's Health Department has been flooded in recent weeks with questions from individuals and several national TV news networks asking for proof that Obama was indeed born in Hawaii.

"They just keep asking over and over and over again," Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo said.

1. good for HI and a much stronger statement than previously

2. very stupid of obama to not have released a copy of the original to stem this earlier....his non-transparency in this matter has deluged HI and no doubt cost them time and money. obama is largely to blame for this.

a statement from Hawaii doesn't prove a damn thing...people want to see the Original BC...period..

I would have just blamed the halfwits who came up with this fantasy in the first place.

Then again i'm strange like that.

so obama would have quelled nothing by releasing a copy of the original? why would people call HI after that? if you read most of the threads about this it stems from his refusal to release a copy of the original and has been further inflamed by ignorant lefties (not all) who claim he has released a copy of the original.....

people will say what they want, but obama had the power to release the original and stem this, he did not.....thus he largely gets the blame

He let some idiots shout about their idiocy.

I'm still only seeing one group to blame here.

I consider it a strategic move on his part.

It's a good distraction. Let the right squabble & obsess over this issue, while the admin moves forward with real issues...

Then you ignore hypocrisy. The "most transparent administration in history" further inflamed the problem by not being very transparent.

It's like pretending that egging two people on who are fighting isn't a participatory function.

More people were convinced simply by the way he acted as if he had something to hide.

right...keep thinking we've taken our eyes off other things., we have had a hand in stalling his takeover of our healt care system, so you all just keep thinking and saying that...sorta lame if ya ask me..but.

Maybe if it worked. Only the left seems incapable of two things at once, I've always wondered why they think they have a talent for complex thought yet continue to think others will be incapacitated because of one thing. The only conclusion that I can reasonably come to is projection, if they thought Bush's Birth certificate would invalidate his Presidency they wouldn't have been able to think of anything else so they project that onto others.

I agree.

Unless you're a blue dog Dem, you didn't have your hand in anything.

It's been all birther with you guys. Oh, and now there is the big issue of his $50K rental on Martha's Vineyard.

Keep up the good work.

Sure.

Have you seen the # of birther stories in the media?

What would otherwise fill that space?

That's what I'm talking about. Spin away.

Who were these people who were convinced?

I'm taking the view that anyone who believed this nonsense was a bit tapped, to say the least. The fact that the question even arose is a mark of that ever present idiocy among some people in America.

The fact that you have a President who doesn't pander to these fuckwits should be something to take pride in, even if there are disagreements in other areas.

Not particularly. I would rather a President who was unafraid of dialog and therefore more transparent when easily refuted claims such as this become an issue, as he said he would be.

Had it effected nothing, then I would agree with you. But clearly there was at least an effect on Hawaii, who came out again doing what they could to stop the incessant calling. I think there is a better solution.

He did release the original during the campaign. There was a picture of it on his website, if I recall correctly. Of course I wasn't following this nonsense.

But it doesn't matter. I rather hope he didn't, because contrary to what you yahoos are ass slapping each other over, this has really hurt your party. And oh, your party can't afford to be hurt.

You've got R congresspeople running, literally running, from cameras when newspeople ask them if they think that the President is a citizen.

It's been great. It's totally killed you guys and the only people who don't see it are the freaks like meme/tutu let me hand off that password now that iv'e been found out, abba/diamond/midamber, etc etc etc.

Yeah, you've got the Sybils and the toothless rednecks with you on this.

I love it. It's almost as good as Sarah how bout in the honor of also our soldiers you stop talking bad about me also Palin.

Almost...

Hey Sybil! What up girl. Get any emails from tutu lately? Hey, do you know if diamond got any more emails from abba, there also that would be interesting.

I like the redneck alaskan impression. I guess you got it from Palin. Can't say I blame ya! You betcha! ;)

you don't think the constituents of the Blue dog Dem's didn't have a hand in it? of course not you are a progressive and don't believe anyone should have to listen to their people..

and what about all the times the lefties complained when President Bush only went to his own ranch, and not some swanky house he is leasing for 50K in Martha's Vineyard during the WORST RECCESSION of our times..

Oh that is right, those pesky double standards again..

Not particularly. I would rather a President who was unafraid of dialog and therefore more transparent when easily refuted claims such as this become an issue, as he said he would be.

Again, why would he bother shutting up idiots shouting about idiocy? It doesn't hurt him and reminds people what Republicans look like.

You're just in a mood because your board is filled to bursting with the distant echoes of the halfwit's cries. :p

You kiddin'?

It's great that he's pumping $50K of his wealth back into the economy during a recession. Christ, if all rich people just horded it, we'd be doomed....

Meh. I don't see any irrevocable damage done to the party. I do see an incredible amount of hypocrisy from people who wanted to see every detail of Bush's life leading up to his election because they wanted other people to believe he was AWOL in the military who now defend the same action from another.

Personally I get fascinated by it all. I've said from the beginning that I believe that Obama is a natural born citizen and these people would be disappointed, but also that this would fester and grow because he acted as if there were something to hide.

So far my predictions were right, but I am still fascinated by how people act here.

People who think Bush should have been afforded some privacy now think that this long-form certificate is all-important, and those who thought that Bush had no privacy now think that it should be afforded to their guy. While I think both of the issues are pretty much worthless and there are better things to argue about.

But its kind of like watching a boxing match where you don't care who wins. It's hard to turn away.
