Hey, BAC, that isn't my God. How many times do you need to hear that before you will believe it?

I am not a Christian, or a Jew, I do not believe in the God of Abraham. I have always been, every day since you first came to this board and for at least a decade before that, a Buddhist.

But I can still read and understand context. God did not order the rape of those girls, if he had it would have been there.

I have no fear seeing the things that God did in the Bible, in fact it was one of the many arguments I had with the pastor of the church that I was forced to go to until I left home. It doesn't change my understanding of the context of the scripture you posted only the end of, and as I stated, the story is bad enough without embellishment, there is no need to add extra "crimes".

In ANY other context, anyone who sends their armies to slaughter everybody but virgin young girls, THERE WOULD BE NO QUESTION AS TO THE INTENT OF SUCH AN ACT. NO QUESTION WHATSOEVER.

the passages don't even refer to sexual intercourse, let alone rape....the problem here seems to be that you believe the only thing you can do with an under-aged girl is have sex with her.....if the intent was rape, why kill all the women old enough to rape?......

If you wished to understand the meaning and context of the OT relationship God had with man and most especially the Isaelites then quit cherry picking scripture, go get a copy of Matthew Henry's Commentary and read it. Then come back as an intellectually honest critic instead of an overblown ego with a God hate chip on his shoulder.
