White House confirms: no middle class tax hike

She's scared.

Why?

The president has made a very clear commitment to not raise taxes on middle-class families.

I think the president has been clear on this. The first thing that we can do, the most important thing that we can do right now is get our economy growing again.

Again, for those who didn't get it the first time: The president's clear commitment is not to raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 a year.

and when he does raise them, because there is no other way he can pay for this hostile takeover of our Health care system...
we will be hearing people like Dnc and Oney saying, but he had No choice, he had to...and we shouldn't be so hard on the poor man..

I imagine at that time, the push will be tremendous to blame Bush yet again for such a crappy economy, that taxes just HAD to be raised.

If he does raise them, you & Tutu & the rest can show me the actual tax hike and say he raised them, instead of continually lying & saying he already raised them.

Deal?

I know you want to brush aside the cigarette tax as NOT A TAX, but...
so when he raises them again, it will be for the second time.

What a pathetic, whimpering response.

You stood by a characterization of "taxing anything that twitches," and have repeatedly implied that there has been an actual tax hike on the middle class (when, in fact, most in the middle class have gotten a tax cut).

Quit lying.

no lies..a tax is a tax...
the Hugo Obama has already raised taxes on not only the middle class, but the poor who can least afford it...and in this case only a certain segment of the American people(those who smoke)...you all can spin it all you want, doesn't make it less true..

Sorry; it doesn't really rise to the level of "everything that twitches." In fact, a cigarette doesn't even twitch.

Keep floundering.

Yeah, that trial balloon was shot down before they finished filling it. I thought this would be the response. Nobody wants to be a one-termer because they go back on a promise like Bush 41.

I don't disagree that it was a trial balloon. Still, it doesn't really change the fact that it's hard to criticize Obama for raising middle class taxes when he hasn't actually raised middle class taxes.

The only thing that I criticize him for on taxes is raising consumption taxes on certain items, such a thing is not progressive and effects the poor the most. He did this after promising that "not any form of taxes" would be raised on anybody making less than 250K.
