Is the West Becoming Pagan Again?

This year, at the height of what used to be called the Christmas season, a Pew Research Center poll on religion revealed that only slightly more Americans described themselves as Roman Catholics (21 percent) than as believers in “nothing in particular” (20 percent). The millennial generation, which includes most adult Americans under 40, is the first one in which Christians are a minority.

Ms. Delsol is quite clear that what is ending is not the Christian faith, with its rites and dogmas, but only Christian culture — the way Christian societies are governed and the art, philosophy and lore that have arisen under Christianity’s influence.

But what's "Pagan"?

Oxford Dictionary:

1) a person who holds religious beliefs that are not part of any of the world's main religions.
2) used in the past by Christians to describe a person who did not believe in Christianity

Cambridge Dictionary:

1) a religion that worships many gods, especially a religion that existed before the main world religions:

2) a modern religion that includes beliefs and activities that are not from any of the main religions of the world, for example the worship of nature:

New York Times? Anonymous sources say they're full of shit and spew propaganda with no foundation whatsoever.

Sorry, but the article is clearly labeled as an opinion piece. As you know, opinion articles do not necessarily reflect the viewpoint of the outlet that posts them.

As I define "pagan," being one myself, I do not agree that America is "repaganizing," whatever that means. We ARE become less religious and more secular. This is a good thing, especially when it comes to govt. and freedom.

By definition, isn't "pagan" anything that is not Christian? Like worshiping the Beatles or Trump?

All cultures, AFAIK, have spiritual beliefs, pagan or not. Does it really matter as long as it promotes unity, greater awareness and belief in a greater cause than oneself?
No, Pagan is pagan.

a religion other than one of the main world religions, specifically a non-Christian or pre-Christian religion.

LOL And you wonder why I forgive you for being mentally ill.

All four of those definitions are ones I think are correct.

Because as i pointed out, at what point was Christianity ever NOT PAGAN?

I even put it in caps! You even quoted it!

Oh my damned fking faggot, lol.
Christianity, but definition, was never pagan.

Why can't you spell "fucking" like an American? Are you a Welsh sheepfucker? A Scottish goatfucker?

Very interesting. How do I convert to your religion?

"Our day to day social ethics, norms, and cultural values comes in substantial extent from the West's two thousand year engagement with Judeo-Christianty.

You keep saying that. If that were true, we would be a Society like Saudi Arabia. Witches would be hung, Heretics crucified, Homosexuals killed outright. You seem to think the world was filled with Cro-Magnons until, miraculously, Jesus came along 2,000 years ago, and saved the world. 'Religion' ... stifles 'Thought'. 'Religion' is dogmatic. Puritans killing Quakers in Massachusetts, is that your "social ethics, norms, and cultural values"?

Your mind-reading abilities suck.

Your mind-reading abilities suck.

I'm quoting you.
Somehow, you think Democracy, Liberty, Free Expression, Tolerance, Brotherhood all stem from some Middle Eastern Religion from 2,000 years ago.
While just the opposite is true.

Cypress. Admit you are from some Eastern Bloc country and attended a Christian Madrassa School. Or ... admit you are an Agent of Belarus spreading Disinformation in an effort to Re-Elect Trump!
