Are you familiar with how the World Wars weakened Europe, leaving America and the Soviet Union as the world's leading powers? Are you unfamiliar with the philosophies of socialism, Marxism, postmodernism, and Nazism? You should probably binge some history lessons, or something...
The Eastern Roman Empire became completely Greek. It had always leaned Greek, even in the Republic period, they allowed taking the Legionnaires' oath in only two languages, Latin and Greek. But later in the Empire, it became almost exclusively Greek, to the point that it seemed like an entirely different Empire.
The Western Roman Empire probably should have become more Germanized. It had always survived by Romanizing new groups, but it considered the Germans to be too stupid to Romanize. There was a severe anti-Northern European bias in the Roman Empire they could not get past. That caused them to exclude the Germans from citizenship, and to thus be overrun by Germans that they refused to Romanize.
I can understand your point about America, but it really falls apart when you bring up the USSR. The USA home front was almost completely untouched by WWII. By the end of the war, we were 51% of the world economy. But the USSR was in Europe, and hit hard by both wars. There were 5 major events in the first half of the 20th century that killed between 5 and 30 million Soviets. It is surprising there are any Russians left.
