Buttigieg calls for LOWER SPEED LIMITS - Finally some sanity in america

I have slowed down now that I'm an old fart! I drive the speed limit now always!

But drivers who drive below the speed limit are just as much a problem, if not more so, than fast drivers.

That is a brazen lie. Very very few people drive below the speed limit. I can see where that could be a problem if such people existed but they don't . Please stop lying, you miserable tranny.

HAHAHAHA. So that's your rationale for speeding? "Nazis do it".

Over 200 mph so bite my dust you filthy old slow tranny.

Based on what happened in 1974, lowering the national speed limit to 55 mph would surely prevent 5,000 highway deaths every year. We also need to make DWI and DWT automatic felonies with mandatory jail time. Most importantly the govt has to demand the entertainment industry stop glorifying speeding and red light running and DWT.

No thanks, you can drive 55, but I would like to get where I am going!

Working from home, well developed public transit, and designing neighborhoods to be walkable/bikeable would all be a better starting point than telling everyone to slow down.

Why is that better? You want to spend trillions of dollars building up public transit and bike access when we could just lower speed limits at no cost and in fact at a HUGE SAVING.

IF saving lives is the goal (and its an honorable goal) then lowering speeds is the cheapest way to do it.

Anything >55 lowers to 55 or make it 60 if compromise is required. Signs can catch up gradually if you want to spread the cost out. Lose your license for a year if you're caught, that should be incentive enough for people to comply. Truckers will grouse about it and it wont help the supply chain

but

All Lives Matter.

Yes indeed. Fines are not enough of a penalty. For rich people, they are no penalty at all. Take away their license. People say they will keep on driving anyway but i bet they'll drive very slowly and carefully, so taking away their license will still do a lot of good.

yes they likely will avoid risk if they chose to drive anyway.

of course you could put the license plates in a database and give cops and traffic cams read access to pull the cars if they are discovered driving. but thats a bit harsh.

had a friend who lost her license for like two months and it was a major problem for her. Uber gets really expensive.
