Trump praised Vladimir Putin as "savvy" following news of an impending Russian invasion of Ukraine.
"This is genius," Trump said of Putin's recognition of two breakaway Ukrainian regions.

Former President Donald Trump praised Vladimir Putin in a podcast interview on Tuesday, describing the Russian president's justification for invading Ukraine as "savvy" and "genius."

In an appearance on the "Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show," Trump said that Putin's recognition of the independence of the Ukrainian breakaway republics of Donetsk and Luhansk — two-thirds of which are still controlled by Ukraine and are not recognized by most other nations but are backed by Russia — was a smart move.

"I knew Putin very well. I got along with him great. He liked me. I liked him," Trump said. "I mean, you know, he's a tough cookie, got a lot of the great charm and a lot of pride.

"I knew that he always wanted Ukraine. I used to talk to him about it. I said, 'You can't do it. You're not going to do it.' But I could see that he wanted it. I used to ask him. We used to talk about it at length," Trump said.

Throughout his presidency, Trump's dynamic with Putin was extremely controversial. At a time when Putin increasingly behaved like an authoritarian and US-Russia relations were reaching their worst point since the Cold War, Trump repeatedly praised and defended Putin.

Of course he praised Putin, he holds Putin in more esteem than US intelligence. He's an effing traitor who should be charged with sedition and double-dealing.

I'm just glad Trump is not in office during this crisis, Trump would pull out of NATO and remove all US Troops from Europe too?!!

We need to make sure, Trump never gets back in office, or all of the above will happen too?!! If by an act of Satan, Trump is POTUS again, The US will no longer be a dependable ally to anyone, maybe Great Britain can take over the leadership role, voided by the US?!!

Imagine that. actual diplomacy with Putin instead of barking demands and ridiculous arms to Ukraine to
put Putin in the box. Biden/Nuland/Rice cant even conceive of de-escalation to (advanced offensive)arms

Cold Warrior Biden now owns a hot war .. NATO is next then we can all die for the Dnieper River

What if he takes LDNR with minimal resistance? what if the majority people there want them?

Ukraine heavy forces are there but would need some to to organize against a mobile Russian army with their set artillery pieces. Russian convoys are moving into Luhansk and Donetsk People's republics

Putin didn't invade , he recognized 2 new republics and went in to defend them ( as he claims)
it's like creating 2 new friendly pieces on a chessboard for Russia

Diplomacy means sucking Putin's dick at every opportunity?

It was genius. Putin waited until America elected a dimwit and make your move. Not rocket surgery.

It was genius. Putin waited until America elected a weak-kneed dimwit and made his move. Not rocket surgery just seizing an opportunity and making money on his country's oil reserves in the process. Genius

This is why he should never have been allowed near the WH.

Could anything be a bigger indicator of what a mistake it was to allow DJT any power at all?

it's like creating 2 new friendly pieces on a chessboard for Russia

Dukkha: "What if he takes LDNR with minimal resistance? what if the majority people there want them?"
Jack: The 'Current Rules' are that the present 'Borders' aren't to be changed by force. The Minsk Agreement laid out a framework to be followed.

"MINSK II
Representatives of Russia, Ukraine, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the leaders of two pro-Russian separatist regions signed a 13-point agreement in February 2015."

Dukkha: "Putin didn't invade , he recognized 2 new republics and went in to defend them ( as he claims)"
Jack: ---> "Point 10, for example, calls for the withdrawal of all foreign armed formations and military equipment from the two disputed regions, Donetsk and Luhansk: Ukraine says this refers to forces from Russia, but Moscow denies it has any forces there."

Dukkha: "it's like creating 2 new friendly pieces on a chessboard for Russia"
Jack; What's next. Estonia? Latvia? Lithuania?

Should Spain re-claim her Colonies? France hers? Doesn't China claim Russian Land in the East?

Kremlin state media is gleefully replaying vids of Republicans like Trump and Mike Pomoeo gushing praise for Putin, because from the Kremlin perspective it shows:

1) America is weak in the face of Russian military aggression
2) that even in America there isn't any agreement that what Russia did was actually wrong.

On the bright side, when this buffoon calls your plan "genius" it should be worrisome. It's like when my bf texts me something and I respond "ok". He's definitely smart enough to go back, reread what he wrote, and figure out where he went wrong. You know what I'm saying?

Putin gets a big chunk of the Ukraine...Biden gets out of sight gas and energy prices and the stock market tanking.

Who is the smarter of the two?

Don't forget that Carlson guy on Fox News.
