Hey conservatives...just an FYI: there are probably a lot of very good, honest arguments you can be making against the current healthcare proposal.
So why aren't you making them?
I guess because talk radio convinced you that fear-inducing lies and distortions are the better way to go; but trust me...it's really making you look stupid.
End-of-life planning? You know...that provision where they want to encourage it, so they will have medicare pay for it if you WANT it? Why, it's FORCED now! The gov't wants to plan your death, and sit in the room with you & your doctor! I saw one woman with a sign at a rally that said "I won't talk about my end-of-life options with ANYONE!" Really? Not even your physician?
Rationing, forced euthanasia, socialism - conservatives have rallied to the buzzwords and fear factors like lemmings, with a willful & even enthusiastic disregard of the truth that I personally haven't seen in decades (even counting the Iraq War).
Even when presented with clear facts - text from the plan itself - the lemmings don't back down from the lies. Jon Stewart absolutely shredded Betsy McCaughey on his show this week; it was poetry. They were using an actual copy of the plan for reference; she would make a crazy claim... "forced end-of-life planning!"... and they would find the exact clause & read it, which of course, said no such thing. But here is the funny thing - she would still stand by her "intepretation," as I have seen many righties here do. She just refused to listen to the truth.
I guess they're probably losing their minds, at least even further than they already had. Maybe it's not such a bad thing.
