First Jan. 6 Jury Convicts Insurrectionist

It won't mean a thing if they put in prison the whole bunch of treasonous scum!
Until they take down the steaming pile of shit Donald fucking Trump!

They need evidence that Trump intended to interfere with the hearing. I haven't seen it yet, but maybe it exists.

Hello Dutch,

Agreed. This idiot's wife is still defending him even after the asshole threatened both their children.

Let's see these trials drag out all the way to 2024. LOL

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/03/08/politics/january-6-reffitt-verdict/index.html
Nicole Reffitt told reporters outside the courthouse after the jury had convicted him that "this fight's just begun," and encouraged other January 6 defendants to follow her husband's choice to go to trial and not take plea deals from the government.

"Do not take a plea," she said. "They want us to take a plea. ... They are making a point out of Guy, and that is to intimidate the other members of the 1/6ers. And we will all fight together."

"The verdict today is against all American people," she added. "If you are going to be convicted on your First Amendment rights, all Americans should be wary."

Nicole Reffitt also criticized what she called the Justice Department's "disgusting ploy" of using testimony from her children, including her underage daughter, against their father. The daughter did not testify during the trial but spoke about her father's threats at two previous court proceedings.

Oh, this is the guy that told his children if they turn him in it made them 'traitors' and that 'traitors get shot.'

I am so glad his children came forward and testified. They are very brave American heroes.

This guy became radicalized by the Trump propaganda. This is what Trump did to the USA.

Yes...and his wife is defending him.

As for radicalization, it's an interesting phenomenon which piques my interest. Offhand, it's not like catching COVID. People have to be susceptible to such manipulation regardless if it's Trump or Charlie Manson doing the manipulating.

This psych article discusses it: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2019.00437/full

This DOJ paper on terrorists also discusses radicalization: https://www.ojp.gov/pdffiles1/nij/250171.pdf
At the individual level, the radicalization process often involves embracing a terrorist belief
system or narrative that identifies particular others or groups as “enemies” and justifies
engaging in violence against them. Individuals may also begin to identify themselves as
terrorists, as well as to engage in activities that highlight their commitments to their new
beliefs, identities, and/or others who hold them. It is, however, important to note that while
these beliefs and behaviors may facilitate the movement to terrorism, this outcome is not
inevitable. Those close to these individuals may become aware of the changes that their
friends and family members are undergoing and attempt to address them or seek help from
others who can. An important implication of this is that trusted information and resources
need to be available to assist in this effort. Another is that prevention and intervention
efforts may benefit from addressing beliefs that justify violence and helping individuals to
develop identities in which these beliefs are not central.

Wow. That's some good reading, there. I got into it for a while and realized I am going to have to come back to it.

It's very devious, the way radicalism spreads.

It is important for people to understand that we should all identify as Americans and as humans on planet Earth. All other people are our fellow citizens and inhabitants. (It's just that some of them, you can't talk to or interface with because they are not receptive.) When looking out across America, it is important to see a fantastic country, full of life, with ample opportunity. See the good. Recognize the good. Deal with the bad, try to turn it to good. We are all connected by this great country. Individuals should ask what contribution they can make to America.

Most Americans want what is best for America, it's just that some of them rarely consider what that actually is, and how it might not always benefit themselves immediately. Everybody wants instant gratification.

Some individuals are unable to visualize these macro concepts. They are far too susceptible to peer pressure. They just need to expand their we/they thinking into the 'we' being all Americans, with all the diverse views included.

Good views or positions are ones that benefit the most Americans and preserve the best future. Positions which only benefit a few, and are not forward-looking, are not beneficial. Racism and supremacy are not good!

Too many people are only thinking of themselves. Selfishness does not build a lasting country.
