My issue is with the word "illegal." One can have a civil violation without violating any specific law. It isn't illegal for instance to make somebody sit and wait at Denny's, however it can merit a lawsuit if it is the wrong person. It isn't illegal for you to kick somebody out of your business for any reason, but it can merit a lawsuit regardless.

damo....if violates the law, it is in fact illegal....just as i said with the building codes, if you build your home and it violates building codes, your build is illegal....if you segregate your public establishment, you are in violation of the law, you can be sued privately or the government (as in the building code example) can come in and force you to comply with the law.....

in my question re segregation/denial of service, there is in fact a violation of the law....that is the definition of illegal...i am not going to copy treatises so here is a quick link off the net:

illegal 1) adj. in violation of statute, regulation or ordinance, which may be criminal or merely not in conformity. Thus, an armed robbery is illegal, and so is an access road which is narrower than the county allows, but the violation is not criminal. 2) a person residing in a country of which he/she is not a citizen and who has no official permission to be there. no translation required. I was quite clear as to why I would not enter into this "debate" with you and why I urged damo to remove himself from it. clearly, he has done so, and so will I.
