A 26-year-old South Texas woman, Lizelle Herrera, was arrested and charged with murder on Thursday for allegedly self-managing her own abortion. Herrera is from Starr County in the Rio Grande Valley, along the border with Mexico.

The Starr County Sheriff’s office told Jezebel that Herrera is alleged to have “intentionally and knowingly cause[d] the death of an individual by self-induced abortion.” The Sheriff’s office arrested Herrera and served her with an indictment on murder charges, and she was being held on $500,000 bond, they said. Herrera was released on bail Saturday evening and has secured legal counsel, according to Frontera Fund, which funds abortions and provides practical support to people needing them in the Rio Grande Valley.

Typical outcome of RW authoritarianism. They want Christian Sharia to be the Law of the Land to form a Christian theocracy to they can subjugate women and throw gays off walls just like the Muslim theocracies.
 
sad anyone would be stupid enough to do such a horrible thing.......or do you expect Frontera talked her into doing it because they felt their business was threatened by the new law.....I'm sure they are providing the bond and the attorney........
 
Sadly abortion is of epidemic proportions in the USA. it's really just birth control at this point (for many)

Well, Trump did campaign on outlawing abortion and he DID tell Chris Matthews that there would "have to be some punishment for the women".

No. I just tire of all the negative news these days and try to put a comedic spin on things. And yes,...some times that may be inappropriate.

For two decades, the moderate and reasonably sane Republicans on message boards assured us abortion would never actually be banned, that no one would be arrested and go to prison.

They assured us it was just all Kabuki theater to secure the votes of the fire and brimstone bible thumpers.


I should have realized these moderate conservatives and libertarians had been lying their fat asses off all along.
