US Navy desertions more than double in last year

Navy is particularly bad because of the close quarters for months end.

There was a time back in the 80s/90s where gross insubordination got you kicked out of the service if you really wanted out. Not sure about now.

It's certainly a different lifestyle. I'd rather be in tents than aboard ship. My longest period aboard ship was a little over three weeks straight. Usually it was a few weeks out and a few days in. Overall, I had a little over a year aboard the Saratoga and the Independence with a couple of short dets on smallboys.

Was on a tin can for my majority of my time, 9 months on deployment to west pac, 250 on the ship, every few months went to Subic to rearm and a few days of R and R, very tight living quarters 24/7, our compartment was against the aft main magazine

Med deployments had plenty of port visits in the 80s.

My squadron's spaces were under the 3 wire. It took awhile for me to get used to the noises. The food was better on smallboys than the carrier. :)

Yep the catapult must have been noisy

Yes, but not as noisy as the 3 wire because most of the shots are from the angle deck for safety. The COD, E-2 and Tomcats went off the bow. Everyone landed in the 500 foot zone with the three wire.

The aviator officer dirty shirt room was under the cats on the bow. All of the CVG spaces were on the 0-3 level right below the flight deck and assigned by seniority of the squadron commanding officers. The HS squadron always had the most junior CO and the F-14 squadrons had the most senior COs.

The pandemic has been tough on the Navy. Biden has begun to turn things around, but we had a year of trump just not caring.

When did you? You lying sack of shit.

1988 to 1992... I was a CTI(Interpretive) - Russian Translator. I once did TDY on an aircraft carrier. I don't get to talk about my service much though, much is still classified. :(

I have no doubt about you or others on this board who actually served. Guno is just a lying sack of shit about it.

You already tried that lie Guno. Hence the reason you changed your Avatar. I look it and what you said you did up. As well as any minorities on that vessel. Once again, you are a lying sack of shit.

To review: Russia and China have a new weapon that works, we dont... and not only do we not have a defense against it but we are very fuzzy about how we might get one.
