Barcus plan may break the no new taxes for middle class pledge for some.

Chapdog

Abreast of the situations
The Baucus proposal would impose, starting in 2013, a 35 percent excise tax on insurance companies for "high-cost plans" -- defined as those above $8,000 for individuals and $21,000 for family plans.

Tax on company will be passed down to the employee in these cases.. Many of whom are middle class workers.

A tax on a company thats passed down to the employee is in my opinion a new tax on us.

Jesus Christ on crutches you knuckleheads will try to construe anything as a breach of the no tax pledge.

When you only have a hammer . . .

come on now, obviously no repbulicans believed him and I'd venture few dems did as well. How much does congress ever pass that doesn't cost the middle class.

no new taxes is what got him into office. all the moderates voted solely on that.

Totally. Obama was all "no new excise taxes on insurance companies offering high-cost Cadillac plans that the insurance companies will pass on to employees who are mostly middle class." I remember it fondly as it was one of the more eloquent of Obama's many speeches.

LOL how about they tax the lifelong healthcare that many blue color union workers got.. or the military stayed in the military for. That will do wonders for next years election.

Well obviously they could've gotten a (worse) deal by voting for McCain there, couldn't of they? Maybe they realized that tax money spent wisely is better than free market money spent poorly?

I doubt it. at this point my brethren independents vote to keep as much money as possible from both of the corrupt parties.
