We're #37!!

The other day, I posted that we were ranked #30 in healthcare outcomes, placing us not only behind the other 19 nations in the G-20 group of industrialized economies, but behind 11 developing economies as ewell, despite spending more per capita than any other country in the world. Sadly, I was mistaken. We rank 37th, meaning there are 18 small economies with better health care than we have.

That sucks.

For all of you who think that's something to be proud of, here's a song from youtube. Enjoy.

It's not mentioned that all those other countries rely on innovations funded by our "expensive" system. This truth makes your point stupid.

i doubt it has anything to do with our over eating. BTW America has the most 100+ year olds in the world. #1. If you take care of yourself we have the best medical in the world that keeps your clock ticking.

we absolutely have the best,
these tools are comparing total cost as if that's the end all.
I seriously doubt less rich countries get all the elective surgurey that we do.

I'd love to live in your dream world. Sadly, I'm constrained by reality.

Care to prove that? You can't. In the first place, the private insurance companies DON'T FUND SHIT. They have nothing to do with innovation or delivery of health care, and big pharma is gouging us and reporting net profits in excess of 20%, despite the fact that most drug R&D is either funded by or performed by the NIH, then contracted out to pharmaceutical companies for manufacture. Big Pharma then jacks the price up and spends trtiple on advertising what it spends on R&D. Our for profit system has almost nothing to do with innovation.

Could you possibly be any more obtuse?

So it's your assertion that no other health sytems benefit from innovations developed in american markets? You're the moron here.

I would like to see some reforms in the system, but completely throwing out innovation and profit is a bad idea.

Elective surgery? That's unnecessary surgery, and has nothing to do with health. We do not have the best healthcare.. We rank 50th in life expectancy at birth, and our infant mortality rate is worse than 44 other countries. My source for both rankings? The CIA's World Factbook.

Yeah, I know. You were hoping it would be the World Health Organization or some other UN commission or liberal NGO, so you could decry the leftist slant.

No such luck.

Some of those other countries send sick people to tribal religious figures, so the number aren't even reported properly.

I don't give a shit what third world org study you found.
People fly here when they are dying you tool.

What strikes me as really really odd is that we have people that criticize the French healthcare system which ranks first in the world despite being much much cheaper than ours.

It'd be like the last-place Yankees with the highest payroll in the major leagues criticizing the first-place Padres with the lowest .

Those numbers are politically derived, with suspect criteria.

YouTube - We're Number 37

Bravo, that was excellent.

But guess what? .. they still won't get it.

That is not my assertion. That's a straw man argument, yet another logical fallacy from you. It is my asssertion that profit has a limited role in innovation, one nowhere near the potency you ascribe to it, and in any case IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH INNOVATION WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR, BECAUSE WE CAN'T DELIVER IT TO OUR OWN PEOPLE. IF OTHER NATIONS ARE DELIVERING AMERICAN MEDICAL INNOVATIONS TO THEIR CITIZENS WHILE WE ARE UNABLE TO DELIVER OUR OWN WORK TO OUR OWN PEOPLE, I WOULD SAY WE HAVE A PRETTY FUCKED UP SYSTEM.

Thank you so much for proving my point.

BTW, I was wrong about you bringing a rubber knife to an intellectual gun fight. Your knife is papier mache. And it's still wet. And you've got a big smear of library paste on your left cheek, a sure sign you're eating the paste.

Again.
