A $2500 fine... just for forgetting to have your license on you? That is flippin insane. The fact they put this on the ballot in an off year really pisses me off because most people won't be paying as close attention as they will in 2010 or 2012.

I know this doesn't affect most people on the board, but I felt like sharing...

Damo... pass along to everyone you know... make sure they know this is on the docket for November's mail in ballots.

The 2500 is pretty much impound fees and such for you car , not technically a fine per sie.
I think this can be done already in other places/

In KY I think it is officers option.
Although it won't cost ya 2500 to get your car back.

I understand having a fine like this if a person doesn't have valid license currently issued to them, but for forgetting it? AND making it mandatory so that Police officers can't use discretion?

This is why I asked the writer who put this on the ballot. Because I am going to make certain everyone I know is aware of who did this.

in CA it is a fixit ticket, you forget, you go to court or sometimes can mail in proof... to show you indeed have a license, $10 fine
