Top-level FBI agent under fire for role in Hunter Biden investigation resigns
Timothy Thibault, a top-level FBI agent who had been under fire for his role in investigations regarding President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, resigned late last week and was walked out of the FBI, two U.S. officials confirmed. But these officials also said that Thibault had reached retirement age, and they added that all of those who retire hand over their badge and gun and are escorted out of the building.

Thibault, who worked in the FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C., had recently been removed from his position as assistant special agent in charge at the FBI's Washington Field Office, which covers all of the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia.

Thibault came under fire earlier this year from Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley who had accused him of "improper conduct" in the Hunter Biden investigation, alleging that Thibault had tried to close the probe.

If Thibault did anything criminal, he should be prosecuted. In order to garner the trust of the American people, then the Federal government, and all of its agencies, needs to earn our trust. This tit-for-tat shit isn't working.

If the FBI removed the guy as assistant in charge of the D. C. office it does not sound like the agency is protecting Hunter or they would he happy he wanted to close the probe.

I support bring all criminals to justice. If Hunter Biden or anyone else has committed a crime, they should be prosecuted for it.

That said, like most Trumpian logic, they use gaslighting and projection to cover up or deflect Trump's crimes.

Example; Trump was a well known pedophile in the 80s and 90s. He often bragged he could fuck (or murder) anyone and get away with it. To deflect these facts in 2015-2016, the Trump propaganda machine accused Biden of being a pedo.

Example #2; the coked-up, militia-wannabe elder Trump son is as crooked as his father. To deflect that fact, the Trump propaganda machine looked for dirt on the Bidens. The best they could do was ramp up the already sleazy Hunter. Is Hunter dirty? Guilty of using his family name to line his pockets? IMO, most definitely. Did he break the law? IDK, but, again, I believe all criminals should be prosecuted.

The Pedo Don fans only support prosecuting Liberals, not Trumpers. The most recent example is Lindsey Graham's threat of civil war if Trump is prosecuted for his crimes.

Sure, there are LW fanatics who are equally biased, but I believe most Americans support prosecuting all criminals and let the cards fall where they may. When criminals are not prosecuted because they are rich and/or famous, then the entire system becomes suspect of being unfair. Hence, one reason for distrust in our legal system.

My guess is that Tony was given a "retire or be fired" notice. It won't save him from prosecution, but it will probably save his pension. Remember what happened to Andrew G. McCabe, the former F.B.I. deputy director?

Another example is the military. Both Chief Gardner and I are Navy retirees with pensions. Even if we committed crimes such as treason and supporting WSE terrorism, our pensions stay with us. Had either of us committed those crimes, such as stealing classified material or Navy property, prior to retirement, we'd have lost everything.

This also happens with police officers canned before retirement.
