Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was released today from a Washington hospital, after she experienced lightheadedness and fatigue, and plans to be back at work this afternoon, a spokeswoman said.

Ginsburg, 76, was hospitalized Thursday evening as a precaution after f an iron sucrose infusion earlier in the day to treat her chronic anemia.

This happens sometimes once you have had part of you Pancriacus removed.

Ill be praying for her.

At least if she does have to retire we have a sensible president and enough votes in Congress to prevent another GOP charlatan being nominated.

If she is going to retire it will be at the end of the next term... Politically speaking that would be the best time.

If she dies, that would happen when it happens.

With any luck, she'll be dead by Christmas. :)

Fuck You.

Fuck You too.

She's a self-centered bitch and judicial activist who has caused significant harm to the republic, ignored the Constitution, and disregarded the rights of the American people. Sorry, but I won't shed a tear when she passes on. Neither will you.

No, I won't. However, something about proper ettiquette when you have nothing nice to say about someone comes to mind...

For example, I waited a little while before going into Ted Kennedy threads because I had nothing but contempt for the man. And even then, I really only did it out of surprise that people would lionize such an individual.

While I definitely wish her well I do hope any Supreme Justices are replaced on Obama's watch.

Just imagine a Democratic Congress and Senate complimented by a Liberal Supreme Court!

If such were the case one major change I can see happening is church attendance would sharply drop along with religious practices, in general. After all, why would a "Second Coming" be necessary?

do you know what happened the last time that combination was true?
The largest ever expansion of federal power that now allows congress to tell you whether you can grow daisies in your front yard or not and how many. Is that the kind of government you need?

The kind of government we need is one which will bring the US into the 21st century. As Obama has stated 20th century policies do not work and are not appropriate.

The Constitution, while maintaining it's basic tenets, must be read in the proper context.

For example, when it comes to social programs we have to remember that at the time the Constitution was written anyone could get free food simply by grabbing their rifle and taking a walk in the bush or fish in a local stream.

When it came to housing land was free (land rush) and the materials (trees) were there for the taking.

What's strange is those things have changed but there are people who are against helping others get food and housing ranting on about taxes and welfare.

As others have said the Constitution is a "living document". It has to be read and interpreted in the current time.

YOu know what else happened when there was a liberal supreme court? They held that the 4th amendment applied to the states (Mapp v. Ohio), they strengthened the Fifth Amendment right against self incrimination (Miranda v. Arizona), numerous cases that strengthened free speech including Tinker v. DesMoines, Cohen v. California (the Fuck the Draft case) etc. THe Warren court oversaw the greatest advancement of civil liberties and criminal procedure and due process rights ever. It was a great time for individual liberty.

The expansion in government power mostly happened with the FDR judges in the 40's. The expansion in civil liberties mostly happened with the Warren court.

Let's be honest, though. The previous courts weren't some sort of constitutionalist dreamland. In one particularly atrcious decision, the decided that mandatory sterilization violated no one's civil liberties. They also invented the "right to contract" out of thin air, mostly because of their economic beliefs, thus ensuring a race to the bottom for workers at the lowest rung in which no one but the employers won out.
