Why The Dolphins Should Trade For Michael Vick
The Miami Dolphins should make a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. They should go after Michael Vick.
From the Eagles standpoint, trading away Vick could make a lot of sense. They have their franchise quarterback in Donovan McNabb, and he is expected to be back on the field for their next game.
In McNabb's absence, Kevin Kolb has proven he can be effective at the position. In the last two weeks he has thrown for over 700 yards and four touchdown passes, while completing 65 percent of his passes.
Multiple Pro-Bowler Jeff Garcia remains on the roster as a high-quality third-stringer. With all of these things going well for them, it doesn't seem likely Philadelphia would pick up the $5 million option to keep Vick next season.
Why not get value for Vick now? I commend Philadelphia for giving Vick what he needed, a doorway back into the league. He's in now, so why not let him free?
From the Dolphins' standpoint, Michal Vick could be just what they need to save them from their free-fall. Who better to join the wildcat trailblazers then Mr. Wildcat himself? The only QB to rush for over 1,000 yards.
The Dolphins have lost their first three games of the season, despite playing pretty well. Now, it looks like they've lost Chad Pennington for the season. They have so much promise on this team, but its starting to slip away.
Enter Michael Vick. Rather than going with Chad Henne, who has never started an NFL game, get Vick out there. With his dynamic running ability and the wildcat package that has been working so well for the Fins, things could really come together.
And the Dolphins won't have to deal with much of a media circus. Philadelphia already took care of that for them. Of course, Vick will still draw attention, especially as a starter. But all the uncertainty of protesters and activists is no longer much of a concern.
Also, the Dolphins can have some level of confidence that Vick will not cause extra off-the-field drama. Vick has been a model citizen and really appears to be a changed man.
The Dolphins really have nothing to lose. It won't take a ton of value to get him from the Eagles and it could really pay off.

Everyone thought there would be massive PETA protests ... NOT. Now, many teams are rethinking their positions on Vick.
Glad to see it.
