"Mommy, why are you swabbing my mouth and why are you in tears?"

Good job, Gov. Abbutt.

It was done in the service back in the 90s. Lots of parents do it with young kids in case of kidnapping...or paternity testing if you're a Trump. LOL

Yeah but to identify in case of mass shooting with an AR-15? Why not deal with that problem instead of terrifying the parents and children?

It works there too. Same for fires, lost in the woods and a body found years later, etc.

I'd recommend everyone be DNA tested. It's pretty popular.

Well of course but it's an odd timing. Texas has the highest number of school mass shootings during Gov. Abbott's reign.

And does he think it helps him with his chance for re-election?

Meh. Uvalde was a fiasco with a lot of kids dead. It won't be forgotten by any Texas parents very soon.

Also, they are going to have students bring home the kits. So what does that tell you?

They're leaving it up to the parents to decide upon testing?

FWIW, Uvlade or not, Beto has a slim chance of winning the election against Abbott: https://www.texastribune.org/2022/10/21/greg-abbott-beto-orourke-poll/

Abbott garnered the support of 54% of likely voters in the latest poll, while O’Rourke got 43%. Two percent picked third-party candidates and another 2% said they supported someone else.

Why not mail kits to them instead of having the kids do the job for them?

Republicans want cameras in every classroom. That's frightening.

If the Democrats wanted it, would you find it less frightening?

FWIW, I'm fine with surveillance of public areas. It won't be like the movie "Brazil". Mostly, the tapes would be reviewed should something happen.

I flew in aircraft with cockpit recorders for 28 years. Some are paranoid about it. I never was. :)
