Obama wins Nobel Prize and Blows up Moon in same day

says the "fuck you" queen of the day

this has made a mockery of obama and the US....he should have turned it down

I don't think it's realistic to turn it down. I applaud him for basically saying he hasn't done anything to really deserve it (well no one can in their first 11 days in office). It's not his fault they gave it to him.

why couldn't he turn it down? if he feels he doesn't deserve and in his words has NOTHING to do with his accomplishments....why accept it? rings hollow and fake....

this is not a good thing for obama and america

He can't turn it down because it would be a slap in the face of the committee that decided he was worthy of the honor.

Just because a certain segment of Americans think badly of Obama doesn't mean the rest of the world isn't jumping for joy that he's our president. RW's need to remember that the world doesn't revolve around the U.S.

Good points!

Hmmm, some of his criticisms are valid, and some are not. At least he articulates what and why he's criticizing Obama for getting a NPP, as opposed to the foolishness that started this particular thread. As I said on the other thread on this subject.....it's a nice gesture but it don't pay the bills or put locks on the door. But if this NPP gets our allies to pony up the bucks and resources to help cure some the worlds ills, then it's okay by me.

How this for articulating?

The Nobel Prize is a joke and has always been a joke.

oh i see.....he can't turn it down because it would be a slap to five people....who since they voted for obama have made a mockery of the award.....

it is not just a certain segment of americans....it is both dems and repubs and people all over the earth....don't be dishonest by claiming only republicans are taking issue with the award.....

It's only the naive liberals that don't understand how this gesture only served to make the process look like a joke.

I feel sorry for you that you just don't get it. Even folks in your own party have tried to help you understand.

Sorry for your misunderstanding about the meaning of class. He's doing the only thing he can do to keep this from becoming a bigger incident than has already been made of it. The thing is, Obama does have a sensibility of how America appears to the rest of the world, unlike the cowboy, and has been trying to repair our damaged image. But then again, I'm pretty sure that if he had turned down the award, people like you would have criticized him for insulting the country.

I suppose when I wrote "Americans" your brain translated it to "republicans only". It doesn't help for you to put your words in my mouth. I've already said I don't think this is going to be good for Obama, even if for no other reason than giving the RW's more fodder for their smear machine.

Now, you have class! and always have, very well put!

I don't recall him winning one..and didn't a lot of fascists and their sympathizers get there due when the war ended?

I understand your attitude. Hell, Kissinger got one for Vietnam...which is a fucking joke considering all the shit he pulled with regards to Chile, Indonesia and the Vietnam War itself.

Anyway, the Nobel people stated quite clearly why they are giving the prize to Obama. Seems the neocons whooped it up when Obama's endorsement didn't swing international consensus with the Olympic bids....now they're pissed because the Nobel society honors him for peace. Bottom line: it's weird that a symbolic gesture gets more vehemence than one that could have brought serious bucks into the USA. Go figure.

Dude, we're not pissed. How many times does it have to be said? We think it's a joke. It makes me laugh... not get angry

President Obama,

I was delighted to learn of the decision of the jury in Oslo to award you this year's Nobel Peace Prize for your extraordinary efforts to strengthen diplomacy and international cooperation.

I want to express to you, you personally and the American people, my warmest congratulations.

By awarding you its most prestigious prize, the Committee is rewarding your determined commitment to human rights, justice and spreading peace across the world, in accordance with the will of its founder Alfred Nobel. It also does justice to your vision of tolerance and dialogue between States, cultures and civilizations. Finally, it sets the seal on America's return to the heart of all the world's peoples.

I am particularly happy that this Prize is awarded to you today because I know it will bolster your determination to act for justice, for peace and to safeguard the planet's global balance. I am convinced that everyone, all over the world, will draw from this an even stronger determination to cooperate with you and with America to achieve these common objectives.
I can tell you that on this path you will be able to count on my steadfast support and that of France.

Dude, the opening post is nothing more than another swipe at Obama by a bunch of bitter, frustrated neocons who can't stand the fact that they lost an election fair and square, and the legacy of the Shrub gets yet another kick in the teeth.

What's funny is that anyone living in America for the past few decades wouldn't see through this.

That being said, my previous statements stand.

I think you're taking it too seriously. It was humorous. After the dust settles, you know Obama will still be one bad ass Nobel Peace Prize winning Muthafucka

I thought it was pretty funny as well and not even all that insulting but most political humor is partisan and this is not any different.

Dude, settle down. I know the guy who actually made that pic and he's a hard core liberal who thought it was funny. It's a joke, a funny one at that.
