A good week for evolutionary theory

The work that led to the Nobel awards was great. Also this week the discovery of Ardi was announced. The Discovery Channel has an upcoming documentary on that.
Thanks, I will have to record it!

You don't know the story well at all, nor the fact that the Bible never mentions female get, except for Mary in the line of David. Adam and Eve had more than just Cain and Able.
But they all had to do each other, incest to populate, oh, except for the fact that there were "others" from other people they went off to marry...author got kind of confused!

How did people that primitive have children fast enough to out live predators, disease and childbirth in itself? Eve was one amazing lady!

It's a bizarre thing to skip over, but there are a lot of laughably absurd and illogical things in the bible.
I love it. right now I am reading Asimov's Guide to the Bible-New Testament, it is really interesting!

While incest was necessary, either with evolution or with creationism, if you read the story the people (before the flood) could live for a very long time and see many new generations.

What icks me, is that Seth was named Seth because he was born in Adam's image rather than Cain's... This seems to show some forms of incest that you or I were not talking about here.

When Cain went into Nod it is very possible that their descendants could have populated Nod by that time.

I saw a study once, they ran a computer program on it and what the odds would be of two people being able to populate the world. If you lived past twenty, you were considered ancient in those days! Life was very hazardous for our ancestors. I will see if I can find the article about it!

The one that gets me is that S & G are destroyed, and most Christians believe it was for homosexuality, which is not the reason, but that is another debate, and then Lot and his daughters have incestual relations because they believe they are the last people on Earth!

Now, you think that Yahweh would not allow this to happen! Biblical mythology cracks me up!

There are some parts of the bible that have been juggled and expounded upon to try and keep the masses following The Word.

I still find it odd that the fundies claim that Adam & Eve were the beginning of all humanity, yet the population of Nod was there when Cain was cast out. Yes, there could have been some decendents that left before him, but not enough to create a population for Cain to join.

Actually, if you assume the Bible is correct if you didn't live past 700 you died young.

Not true. Considering Adam lived over 800 years AFTER Seth was born, and that could have been centuries after Cain and Abel were born and was still before they were cast out.

20 years is a generation, if 10 generations were born before Cain and Abel, then another few centuries passed before Cain was cast out, there could easily been enough descendants to populate Nod.

I still can't get over Adam's surprise and joy when his son looked like him rather than like Cain...
