Mr. Dole, the 1996 Republican presidential nominee, had said last week, and on many prior occasions, that he wanted the Republicans to stay in the game on the health-care debate and work for a bipartisan solution and he also thought the Democrats should pare back their proposals in order to gain Republican support.

But he found the commercial misleading and destructive to those efforts.

“The ad makes it appear Senator Dole is supporting the Democratic version of health-care reform,” Mr. Marshall said. “That is patently false. He is not supporting any bill out there. He has been pushing for bipartisanship and for leaders on both sides to come together to pass sound reform.”

He added that Mr. Dole had “only restated what he has been saying for months: He believes there is an opportunity to reform the system.” Mr. Marshall said that Mr. Dole understands from his 35 years in Congress that all important legislation has bipartisan support.~~~

They lied about Frist, also.

At least they pulled the ad instead of continuing to lie about it. No doubt some liberal tool will cite the ad, claiming that Dole supports Obamacare though.

I'm actually surprised they pulled it. During a campaign they wouldn't have, they'd just keep putting forward whatever they wanted to drive perception rather than reality.

During a campaign the liberal media would have ignored it. Now that Obama is in office and reality is here they are much less likely to carry the Democrat's water and try to build their integrity back up.

I think Doles people made it pretty clear that they did not want Mr. Dole coming out and saying "they are being purposefully misleading".
