Rabbits used for heating fuel in Sweden, why not U.S.?

This is no joke. Thousands of rabbits that are shot and killed in Stockholm's Kungsholmen parks and neighborhoods are being used to fuel a heating plant in central Sweden. The animals cadavers are warming the homes of Swedes.
Every year, thousands of rabbits are killed in order to protect trees and shrubbery in the city's parks and green space. Some of them were once pets that were left to scavenger for themselves. As is well known, they reproduce at an amazing rate.

just off hand, how many rabbits do you think we shoot?......perhaps here we should use the aborted fetus......do you realize how much carbon has gone to waste in the 47 million aborted since 1972?.....it's a crying shame!........

"Those who support the culling of rabbits surely think it's good to use the bodies for a good cause. But it feels like they're trying to turn the animals into an industry rather than look at the main problem," Anna Johannesson of the society told Vårt Kungsholmen newspaper, news Web site The Local reported

Johannesson said there other methods of getting rid of rabbits besides killing them, such as spraying park plants with a chemical that makes them unappetizing to rabbits.

Ha, gotcha there. I use those chemicals (in fact I've made them at home to protect my vegie garden) and there far from dangerous. Their essentially a blend of a small quantity of sulfites (for the smell) but mostly the active ingredients are surfactants and capsicum (in commercial blends, my home version contains some tobacco, that keeps the bugs away). Nasty tasting to be sure but harmless. A rabitt could drink an entire jug of the stuff and not get sick (though it might have to pee a lot afterwards.).

Some kid could get them in his eyes. Regardless, the rabbits would eventually starve. Its the same thing when liberals oppose hunting. Get rid of their predators, and the prey population explodes until it starves to death.

Well you can say the same thing about your laundry soap or spice cabinet, besides, who said anyting about opposing hunting? Not I. I like rabbit! Yummie!!
 
If they are shooting them anyway... why not... its no worse than eating a cow!
