If you are a parent... how do you make a homemade weather balloon and allow your 6 year old child to climb inside and take off in the thing????

It is currently moving at 25 mph about 6000 feet over Denver.... He took off in Fort Collins...

HOLY SHIT!

I was just watching this on CNN!

That poor boy has got to be shitting himself!

He's alone? Your title says it all ... a little kid at 6000 feet (is that over the ground or above sea level? There's just no way for anyone to reach him, at all. How far is it from Ft. Collins to Denver?

Damn! What kind of parents ...

It is about 60 miles give or take, the kid is now blowing east...

The biggest concern is how is the kid breathing... they still haven't found out what it is made of. They have no clue how to get the balloon down. The only two ways they know of is to add weight to it or to release gas....

sucks. they should send a sky diver after it or use a coast guard ocean rescue basket.

They had a sky diver on the evilz network say that would be nearly impossible. The reason is the diver would have to pull the chute prior to hitting the balloon and then land on something that is moving 25 miles per hour...

They are hoping the kid is hiding somewhere rather than being inside the thing. They figure he might be hiding for fear of being in trouble for losing the balloon. But they haven't been able to find him.

Thorn... the kid is about 2-3000 feet above the ground in Denver... so about 7-8k over sea level.

wow.....how in the heck are the going to rescue this kid? even another ballon would have difficulty approaching....i don't think a skydiver could get close enough, maybe.....

Either the balloon is going to rise into the atmosphere and expand until it pops, and the kid will fall back to earth as a popsicle or he makes it too heavy and he'll stay up in the air until he freezes to death at a lower altitude.

This is EPIC parenting failure if he's in there.

Wait, it's not a weather balloon. So he wont get high enough to freeze solid probably. Still pretty awesome failure.
